New Years celebrations in Pattaya

My Filipino semi-bf (as we call each other) and I will be in Pattaya for New Years.

Where would you recommend we go for a good dinner (not stuffy) and a good celebration in a gay atmosphere? I guess the dinner could be one place and the partying could be somewhere else......

Are there any big parties that need to be reserved ahead of time?

I have been in Pattaya for New Years and had fun. I think most of the bars have parties and the streets are fun but almost got hit in Sunee one year with a bottle rocket that went astray. It is a bit dangerous if you don't look where you are and watch your surroundings.

That said, my favorite spot for the last 6 years in Rio De Janeiro. It is so beautiful as they all dress in white and float candles in the ocean as an offering to the goddess of the ocean. The beaches of Copa and Ipanema are packed standing room only and the party is non stop.

Since you're not asking for my favorite spot (it's not Pattaya), I'll stick to Pattaya: Most bars, hotels and restaurants will celebrate New Year more or less.

I only can give you want hint: Stay indoors (where ever) between Midnight and 1 a.m., as said by GT: the fireworks aren't a real joy.

Over the years, I enjoyed the Cities' New Years Celebration at Bali Hai Pier: live music, lot's of food and drinks and it's a real peoples-celebration with families, couples, singles.........

Usually the party starts at 8 p.m., with live music from 10 p.m. and of course the count down from 23:59"45 on the 31-12-2008.

Ahh yes, I love South America and they sure like their New Years celebrations. I go to Colombia but have never been to Brazil.....It's high on my list though! If the boys in Brazil are even half of what I have found in Medellin then all I can say is, WOW!!!

You did not say how much you want to spend for dinner. But check out Cafe Royal, Posiden, Luxor, or any of the large hotels.

For me I would go with my friend to dinner at Cherrys off third road. Then head over to Sunee Plaza for a drink and say Happy New Years to friends and then before midnight end up at Xzyte. It will be crowded and is always fun for New Years. To keep the party going into the early hours, maybe a trip to Dudes or Xray after hours where many of the gay boys will end up after the go go and host bars close

Thanks for the ideas......the cost is not important as it's a special night and I like the idea of a disco dance place later as my Pinoy boy is a real dance freak.....

What kind of food is Cherrys?

Which dance club do you recommend and are they very different?
