TotallyOz Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I was out with friends and had a boy with me that was a family friend of the BF and a farang I had met was talking to us and all a sudden touched the boys dick to see how big he was. The boy was absolutely flabbergasted and shocked. I didn't know what to say. The boy handled it well but it made him not only uncomfortable but very embarrassed. He is with me quite a bit and knows I am gay and like guys but I have never touched him other than a hello hug. I hope this doesn't make him leery to go out with me again but only time with tell. I do wonder if some think that every single person in Pattaya is a hooker? I know that some Farangs treat the boys and girls like that. While I will gaze at every beautiful boy I see, I know there are limits and boundaries. Some don't and in a city like Pattaya, I wonder if the longer one stays here the more those limits seem to fade? Quote
KhorTose Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Good question, but I would never attempt to answer for others. Have I become blasé about what is proper and what is not proper behavior since I have been coming to Thailand? In my own mind I would say, "no". If anything I have endeavored to learn Thai behaviors just so I do not do something in public that would embarrass my Thai friends. In learning Thai customs, I think that I have become even more proper then I would be in my own country. When in doubt, I ask my friends--both Thai and Farang---as they have a more detached opinion of reality then I might have. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I often see farangs treating boys like a piece of meat and I find it extremely offensive and disgusting. As most of us know, these boys (and girls I suppose) are not hookers because of the thrill of it all. They become hookers because of lack of funds to get an education to do anything else. It is not an easy life for them, but they do what they have to do to survive. And, certainly, NOT ALL THAIS ARE HOOKERS. Have compassion for them even if you don't participate. Quote
Guest TOQ Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Of course not. Anyone that does something like that is a complete inconsiderate "AssHole" john Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Even if every boy in Pattaya really was a hooker, I can't imagine why anyone would do something like that, even if he thought he's being funny. That's one farang I wouldn't want anything to do with again. I know you were probably caught completely by surprise and didn't know how to respond, but it would have served the guy right if you had immediately told him off, took the boys, walked away, and left him standing there like the complete schmuck he is. Even if he comes up to you later, apologizes, and tells you he didn't mean to offend anyone, I would say a quick "Thanks," give him an icy stare, and turn my back on him. This boy was not in a go-go bar trying to entice farang customers. He was out in public, minding his own business, and this idiot thinks it's perfectly ok to grope him. Even if he's someone who is reading this, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he is low-life enough that he still can't understand why anybody thinks he did something, to put it as gently as possible, inappropriate. PattayaMale Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 This topic brings up possibly a related question. What would you do if you were there when a farang did what happened to Gaythailand's friend? Would you ignore it? Would you say something to discourage this? Quote
Guest luvthai Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 One bad farang is all it takes to give the rest of us a bad reputation. Usually the boys that have been around some know which farangs are good and which ones to avoid. Unfortunaltely the money is something they can't ignore so the boys put up with a lot of abuse from some farangs. I would if you should happen to run into your friend again let him know ,in a nice way, that it was totally unacceptable behavior and you were embarrassed by his actions. Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Would you ignore it? Would you say something to discourage this? Sometimes you really don't know how you would respond when you're taken completely by surprise and caught off guard. In my own case I don't think I'd ignore it, but in situations like that I usually come up with what I wish I had said once it's too late to say it. I am certain I would say something to let the guy know that neither I nor the boy appreciated it. I am certain he would be very clear that I don't expect him to ever do anything like that again. If the boy is with me, if he didn't do it on his own accord, I would let him know I expect him to apologize to the boy. I think what I would say and how strongly worded it would be would depend on who the friend is, how long I've known him, how long the boy has known him, and how close we are. But I can't think of any circumstances that would cause me to ignore it. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 A couple of years ago I was in a restaurant with 2 other farangs. When we were finished one of them got impatient to get the check as the waitresses were in the back part of the restaurant not paying attention to us. He very loudly clapped his hands 3 times (as if on the beach) and SHOUTED "CHECK BIN". I was extremely embarrassed and decided it would be the last time I would go out in public with him. As luvthai said "One bad farang is all it takes to give the rest of us a bad reputation." The 3rd falang couldn't understand why I was so upset by this idiot's rude behavior. Quote
Guest shockdevil Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 ...I do wonder if some think that every single person in Pattaya is a hooker?... WOW! First of all, this was a family friend of your BF and you were in public, not in a Go-Go Bar or Sauna. This farang you came across reminds me of the reason why I am selective with whom I tell I am visiting Pattaya. Pattaya has partly gotten a bad reputation because of thoughtless jerks like him, who assume that every Thai young man (or woman) is on the meat market. I had encountered a similar situation, but not as physical as your situation GT, when I was out with my Indonesian BF and his former college buddy and colleague (straight) in Pattaya. We were out at lunch when I noticed a farang at a nearby table trying to make small talk with the young men after I had left the table to pay the check. Upon my return to the table I noticed my BF had an angry look on his face and his friend’s face red with embarrassment. When I asked what was wrong, he said that the farang offered money for sex with him and his friend. He not only found it offensive (as did I) but more importantly, he considered it disrespectful to our relationship. I recall the swift lecture (to put it mildly) I gave to the farang about how he was an arrogant small-minded bigot for assuming that every young guy that looks Thai in Pattaya are either prostitutes or whores. I made sure the guys I were with knew that this type of behavior was unacceptable. My BF apologized to his friend and to me for not saying something himself to the farang. However, I am glad he did not confront the guy because it could have ended with him causing a much bigger scene and possibly slugging the farang for embarrassing him in front of his colleague. Quote
Guest joseph44 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I always treat a boy (or who ever other person) in the way I would like to be treated: With respect. Whether it's a hooker, a waiter, a monk or my boss: always with respect. Most of us do have the same idea, but unfortunately, some of us do not know about how to treat others. Quote
Guest xiandarkthorne Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I always treat a boy (or who ever other person) in the way I would like to be treated I couldn't agree with you more. I have always treated the guys I offed as potential friends and (I know this is going to sound really silly considering some of the other comments I have made here and at other boards) even potential relationships. Why is it so hard for some people to treat others with civility and respect? Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Why is it so hard for some people to treat others with civility and respect? It's a means of boosting their own low esteem and to feel superior. Quote
Guest laurence Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Although I have had some dirty old farang try to hit on my bf in my presence there is a flip side to the coin. I have seen thai boys with a farang and the minute the farang leaves for the toilet or elsewhere, the boy(s) start flirting with other farang. I don't mean boys in a bar but at a restaurant or other public place.Of course flirting is one thing, frottage is another!! Quote

However, flirting is one thing but a false assumption followed by an indecent proposal or inappropriate action is crossing the line. Quote
Guest Steve1903 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I find it hard to understand people who think it's ok to do that sort of thing. I also find it distasteful to see someone obviously being jerked off under a towel on the beach. Is it really that hard to take it inside somewhere? Maybe I'm just an old prude but politeness and decency cost nothing. The embarrassment to the boys when they come across some of the cruder farang must be hard for them to take. Quote

Guest kotter Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I had to smile at this thread started by Gay Thailand, who last night was having his tits tweaked by a Thai boy in full public view and didnt reprimand him in any way!!! . In fact the way he smiled I think he was quite enjoying it. He afterwards gave the boys some money each and they went off happy. Were they hookers....sure as hell. How many times have you seen Thais pinching some small Thais winkie in jest and without any feeling towards the child!! AS far as the clapping of the hands. If it was done very loudly or coursely then yes, bad news. However it is quite normal and accepted by Thais to hear clapped hands and the words Check Bin being called to them.If they were chatting away and ignoring there customers then they deserve a little louder clapping than usual. Good service can be a low priority on a lot of Thai lists. Quote

You missed the speech I gave them. I only gave them 60 baht each to buy some food. I told them had they not touched my nips in public view, they would have gotten 100 baht. That is tough love my dear. I hope they learn the lesson. But, I think the boys you mentioned didn't touch my nips. I think that was the boy that lives with me. I have given him explicit written permission to touch me anytime he likes. But, have asked over and over he not do when when he says the words, "Big Mama". That is embarrassing in public. But, your post does bring up something different. I was in Sunee Plaza and sitting in a gay bar with gay men and the streets filled with hookers. I don't think I would have reacted the same sitting in Manhattan's or Gian's. Although, one of the waiters in Gian's I have lusted over for 5 years so if he offered, perhaps I would break even my own rule. Quote
Guest kotter Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Now Now "M' I think your thoughts have got a bit muddied of the event. The boys that I saw I believe was not your boyfriend and was it really 60 baht to each!! Quote

But, as I was only out about an hour last night, it could only have been one of 4 people. My mind does stray when I stray so you may be right. Quote
