TotallyOz Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 The beaches of Pattaya have been slow and most have stayed away for quiet a while. Each time I went there were few boys and even fewer customers. Yesterday, the sun came out and it was a wonderfully hot and sunny day. The boyfriend and I went to the beach. My oh My what a wonderful day. The motorcycle lot was overflowing. The beaches were packed with families and tourists alike. The place I normally sit at was so packed they had to add extra chairs for us. There were many faces familiar to me and many I have never seen before. Eye Candy was everywhere. The weather was absolutely perfect and the breeze was nice. My manicurist was extremely happy to see me. It was so nice to have the feel of sand in my toes as I made it home in the late afternoon. I much prefer that to the mud and water I have had recently after each trek out. I hope this is the end of the rainy season but you never know. If it is, it was one fucking amazing way to end. It was just like s sudden transition and wham bam thank you mam. Quote
KhorTose Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Eye Candy was everywhere. And for those still stuck out of country, the pictures are where??? Quote

PattayaMale Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 It is not only the beaches that have more customers. The bars that I visited in Sunee were more crowded. I want to make a prediction. If Barrack Obama wins the presidential election, peoples mood will improve even in a financial crisis and Pattaya will see more tourist than it will if McCain wins. Quote

But I also believe that if McCain wins you will see more expats john Quote

How would you know if you're right? Wouldn't McCain have to win too? Quote

If Barrack Obama wins the presidential election, peoples mood will improve even in a financial crisis and Pattaya will see more tourist than it will if McCain wins. I think it is more of a hope than anything else. If Obama wins, perhaps the winds of change will blow and consumer confidence will improve. Not sure if it will happen that way, but it sounds good. Not sure if it will happen that way, but it sounds good. Not sure either, but my gut says the same thing. I think going in a new direction and developing alternate energy resources will propel us out of this slump. Obama is correct that America needs to come together, and one more thing I hope the dems do is re-impose the equal time rule. Much of the division in America and power of the right wing is coming from the hate mongering that is bombarding the airwaves. Sure be nice for the morons to get both sides of an issue. Gaybutton Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Getting back to the subject of this thread, the rains are not yet over. We had two or three very nice days, but the rain is back. It's only 8 more days until the Loy Khratong holiday. I hope the rains don't ruin it. Usually this time of year the weather is beautiful, but days without rain here are few and far between lately. Only a few years ago this part of Thailand was going through a severe drought. Given a choice, I'll take the rain. Having rain each day gets unpleasant after a while, but going through that drought was really terrible, not to mention expensive if you happened to be one of the locals who was forced to buy water from the delivery trucks every few days. Fortunately, most of the rains have not been heavy enough to cause serious or prolonged flooding problems. Quote
PattayaMale Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Actually, Obama and the rain are part of the same discussion. The rain or lack of it may be due to global warming. The US has not signed any treaties to help the world solve these problems....so Thailand has had to suffer along with GayButton. I believe that if Obama is elected, the US will finally start to play a leadership role in helping solve this problem. Quote
KhorTose Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I also believe this to be true. My dreams: 1. I would like to see American troops used to end conflicts and not start them. 2. I would like to see American troops (with others or under the UN) used as buffers between some of the tribal societies that think the path to unity is to kill the opposition. 3. I would like America to be the leader in achieving peace in the Middle East. 4. I would like America to insist that all trade with any other country depends on their, and our products having a little as possible impact on the environment. 5. I would like America to develop and make affordable the best education system in the world. 6.. Finally, I would like to see America return to being the country that leads the world in how we administer justice and treat our citizens. Darn, I can see right now, I am going to have to back off on smoking pot again. Quote

Guest Steve1903 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Jeez, can't remember the last time anyone was posting about high tourist numbers, makes a change from the doom and gloom. Well, hope they keep the boys busy. Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Jeez, can't remember the last time anyone was posting about high tourist numbers At the moment I think the beach concessions and vendors would be grateful even for low tourist numbers. Over the past few weeks there has been so much rain that beach days have been only few and far between. It must really be difficult for them. Not only that, but many of the beach concessions have annual Loy Kratong parties, complete with buffets, fireworks, etc. That holiday is only five days from the time of this post. Because of the weather, many people, including me, are seriously considering not buying tickets for the parties this year. If I can even get to the beach, because of the weather, I'm probably going to buy a ticket from Rit's Beach, where I usually go, out of loyalty for him, despite the fact that it may end up rained out. By the way, tickets this year, at least for Rit's Beach, are 390 baht per person. I would imagine most of the beach concessions that hold parties will charge a similar price. Quote
