Okay, perfect. It was what I thought.....one entry per day for each day with 3 or more posts......and in addition you need 50 or more days of this.....excellent!

I say the time of my post and figured it was Thailand time...thanks for confirming this for me!

Or 6 posts a day, on 25 different days, or 5 posts a day on 30 different days. You receive one entry in the hat for each day you have at least 3 posts, but only if you have 150 posts over the entire contest period. Easy enough?

Yes, I see, I had incorrectly assumed that any posts over 3 a day were not counted at all!! Instead as I re-read the posts by GB and GT the posts over 3 a day count in the 150 total but they do not count for the entries per day!!! Obviously, it wasnt't easy for me, lol

Thanks, MonkeySee!!!

somebodies gonna be a very happy camper when they win this!

I have been posting just for the fun of it. But there is lots of time for other members to get into this competition and win the big prize. Surely there are guys out there who want to say something? Don't be shy, and as Oogleman says, maybe be a happy camper.

I am happy to see more post, especially informational post that other members can benefit from. However (just a little sour grapes) it appears that a few people are posting just to be posting in attempt to win a prize. Some threads are drawn out quite long, with no new information. I try to follow each thread and real eveyone's post, but on my recent trip to the US had to just ignore some post after the first day, as nothing new was being added.

Just a personal observation!

Just a personal observation!

I feel the same way. It's rather obvious when people who have either never posted before or had rarely posted before suddenly come out of the woodwork and make sure to post at least three times almost every day for the duration of the contest. I suppose that is to be expected in a contest like this and there are no rules against doing that. I think if I were eligible for the contest I'd probably be doing the same thing.

I imagine some will disappear once the contest ends. It would be nice if that doesn't happen, but I have a feeling some people will do that. That's their choice, if that's what they decide to so.

I hope everyone remembers: The winner will not necessarily be the person who writes the most posts. The winner will be the person whose name gets drawn out of the hat. It could very well turn out to be someone who submitted three posts during the same day only once.

Well, what is the intent of the contest? To reward regular posters or to lure new posters? Or both? Rather than be "sour grapes" (I do agree there seems to be many frivolous posts) best to get into the spirit of the contest. After all the final choice will be by a random draw.

Are you joking? Do you truly believe that GT is spending $1500, plus whatever it will cost for the little affair when the winner is drawn for the sake of attracting new posters or rewarding regulars?

As for the intent of the contest, if GT wishes to share his reasons, that's up to him.

Kind of a mean-spirited reply, GB. Kind of dampens my interest in any further posts.

I could not agree more Laurence. As for intent, it was to have fun, draw new posters, reward older posters, get a buzz, and just have fun. I am sure there were other reasons but mainly it just is something I thought about one night and the same night posted the contest.

Don't worry about GB. He is just upset he didn't get a fish spa with me. ;)

I'll have to find some reasons first. Sometimes I speak before thinking. :)

Actually I am a little upset about that! I want to give it a try.

As for terrible, mean spirited me . . . I leave that to the eye of the beholder.

Personally, I don't think it's anyone's business as to reasons why you're doing this. It's not my business either. In my opinion, the only thing that's any else's business is the fact that you're doing this.

LOL. You live in Pattaya remember. The one place on earth where when you take a shit, everyone at the beer bar knows how it smells.

No one was questioning GT's reasons for this contest. One poster made the suggestion that some posters were posting anything just to win the contest. GB followed up with the comment of posters "coming out of the woodwork". I then commented as to whether the contest was aimed at old members, new members or both. I thought it was for any and all, new or old and have encouraged other members to get into the spirit of the contest. GB's reply to me was "are you joking" which was, to me, a flippant remark, if not mean-spirited.

But GB is right, leave it to the eye of the beholder.

I am one of the posters that have increased the number of posts I have made and am trying to add at least 3 posts of substance each day.

I don't know if others think my post are substantial or not but I am trying to add something to this message board and yes a fun way to see if I win or not.

It is a bit bothersome to me when a moderator, in this case GB, thinks it is wrong to increase posts to win a contest when that is part of the rules.

I don't really understand the objection.........or as usual, I misunderstood his meaning

You did.

I have no objection at all to people trying to win the contest. In my post above I said if I was eligible, I'd be doing the same thing. You're a long time poster on this board. You're not someone who suddenly showed up here once the contest was announced and started writing frivolous posts solely for the purpose of trying to "stuff the box" in order to win the contest. I've read every post you've ever written here and I don't think any of them have ever been frivolous.

I don't even have much of an objection to people who are writing frivolous posts. That's not my objection. What I object to hasn't even occurred yet, although I expect that it will. My objection is with the people who came out of the woodwork, started posting on this board only in an attempt to win the contest, and as soon as the contest is over, they're going to disappear right back into the woodwork. As I said, that can't be helped, but I have no personal respect for those who do that. I hope nobody will, but I think some will.

I don't think you're going to be one of them. There's nothing at all wrong with your posts or your posting history here, which I am certain will continue long after the contest has been completely forgotten.

The magnitude of the reward and the rules of the contest set the stage both for newbies to audition and for frivolous posts. To qualify, one must post three times in one day which can be taxing. For me, three times in one day is beyond my norm of once a day.

Some of the new posters I recognize from other message boards/forums and they seem quite legitimate and should be welcomed. I have not noticed any real trolls who seem to infest other boards.

In the long run you may lose some sour grapes and gain some sweet cherries. For me, I plan to sit on the bench, enjoy the game, cheer my favorites and maybe get in on a play or two.

Of course, it is none of my business, but I do not understand the rationale for why you to feel this way. Do you care to explain?

I suppose if I had to keep a daily tally of the posters (and eliminate some) I would get frustrated also especially if I was ineligible.

That is for sure. GB puts a lot of effort into this board and doing it for free. Many days, I am sure, it is a thankless endevour.

Not at all, gents. If I didn't enjoy doing it, I wouldn't do it. As far as my eligibility is concerned, I'm not the least bit upset that I'm not eligible. I didn't expect to be. I also could have resigned as moderator. Then I would have been just as eligible as anyone else.

You asked if I care to explain why I feel the way I do about some people who I believe are trying to take advantage. The answer is simple. No, I do not care to explain. I would have thought it is obvious. I guess it isn't.

As it stands as of yesterday (I won't know today's tally until midnight) 29 people have their names in the hat. Again, the actual number of posts anyone writes in total is not what wins the contest. If you have 3 posts in one day, your name goes into the hat for that day, but only once. You could write 50 posts in one day if you really want to, but your name goes in the hat only once per day as long as you have written at least 3 posts that day.

As for the totals since the beginning of the contest, MonkeySee you are leading the pack. As of last night's tally, I've got you down for 234 qualifying posts. You're definitely keeping me busy.

I think it was obvious, but did not want to step on any toes and make assumptions. I do not understand the reason behind your displeasure about people taking advantage, when it is really Gay Thailand's money. I do not know for sure, but it seems to me, GT is happy with the way the promotion is going. His main objectives, I think, are being met, and he is not worried about frivolous posts or people coming out of the woodwork.

Sorry, about all the extra time you are having to spend. I hope you don't view that as a bad thing!
