I have had encounters (several unfortunately) that have turned sour like this. I have pretty much taken to restricting my hiring to out of town (out of the country actually) hires so that I do not have to deal with this-a strategy that does not always work. Even though I am 100% out and do not have the income/assets that would make it anyone's time to blackmail I have been subjected to blackmail attempts and have had to deal with other problems in my life brought about by crazy fellas.
