TotallyOz Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Been taking some photos of the boys you know in the Land of Smiles? Well, lets see those smiles. Post them here and get a chance to win a bottle of Scotch Whiskey. 1. Post your photos here and post as many as you like and want to enter. 2. The photo must be original and taken by the poster as it is a Smile contest, hopefully it will have a boy or girl with a beautiful smile. 3. The photos will be judged by a group of impartial judges with the top 10 selected 10 days before the All Forums Meet and Greet. 4. The top ten will be voted on by the posters here and the winners will be the ones with the most votes. Only one vote per user. Prizes will be given away on night of the meet and greet. If unable to attend, we will find a convenient date when you are in Thailand for the prize. Quote

I know some lads who are very upset when their picture shows up on the internet. Quote
Guest Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 How about this for a smile john Nice! It is pics like this that you see that make this place so amazing. The people here seem to love life and enjoy it to the fullest of their ability. Quote
Guest Oogleman Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Not the most beautiful lol - but i took them and they hold fond memories. The old Bondi boys off duty. On the farm in Udon Thani Malaysia hotel with friends. Quote
Guest buaseng Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 http://flickr.com/photos/mindtrain/2835503533/ I found this great photo on another site. I tried to download it to make into a desktop wallpaper but was unable to do so. Does anyone know how to download flickr.com photos? - (I really only want this one so if anyone can download it and let me know I will provide an email address to post it to me) Quote

Guest buaseng Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 You can right click on the photo then save it to your desktop and go from there. Tried that and all the other options like email or set as background etc on the right click but none of them work - the result saved to my picture file or desktop background in this case is just a small dot in the middle of the screen which cannot be expanded into the photo. Can only assume that flickr has set up a means of stopping downloads - hence the original question. Quote
Bob Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Ah, Thai smiles. I have hundreds of photos of smiling Thais taken over the year and it's impossible to pick out even my favorites of the day. But I'll try a few (I do notice you didn't limit the number!). First, one of my favorites, some kids in Chiangmai having some fun: My bf's nephew who lives northeast of Chiangrai: A friend's nephew in the back of a pickup while we were touring Isaan: A Loy Krathong (Chiangmai) parade dancer with a big grin: Songkran revelers in Chiangmai: Another Songkran reveler/doll in Chiangmai: Whether the best smile or not, she's most definitely the best pad thai cook in all of Thailand (Corner Restaurant, Hua Hin): Finally, the infamous Chiangmai Twins, each with a different way to smile: Quote

Flickr has the image as a gif file and sized at 43bytes which is not large enough for you to be able to do anything with it other than view it on their site. This is the way the copyright of the original image is protected. If you have a flickr account you can of course ask the original poster of the image to let you have a copy in jpg format providing of course he/she will accept your request to share his files/photos. Guest Oogleman Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Bobs - your photos are all great! Quote
Guest Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Loved the boys from Bondi Oogleman. Bob, some great pics and smiles. buaseng, the guy with Flicker is nice but remember: 2. The photo must be original and taken by the poster Quote
Guest buaseng Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 buaseng, the guy with Flicker is nice but remember: 2. The photo must be original and taken by the poster Fully appreciate that GT and was not intending to post it - I had already registered in the brain the fact that they must be original and taken by the poster. Just thought the camera/computer experts might be able to help with this particular photo. The flickr photo is the most charming I have ever seen and encapsulates for me the Thai smile and 'that thing with the hand' - I would love to make it into a wallpaper for my compy. p/s Don't have any 'smile' photos of my own - all my camera work in Thailand is confined to scenery and architecture etc. Quote
Guest buaseng Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Thanks VM Bi4Thai. I will see what I can do with it regarding making it into a wallpaper. Quote
KhorTose Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 BOB, TOQ, Oogie all of your pictures are great, and I love to see the smiling children. How in the hell is an amateur going to be able to complete. I have already seen a couple that I would give the award to. You three are very intimidating. Quote
