Badboy81 Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I read that I should probably NOT visit Meio after the point....I had already gone.... HATED IT....Too far out of the way for tourists...If I was a businessman who worked in downtown Rio, I would probably love it to go get a nut before heading home to the suburbs to the wife and kids...as a tourist, I personally don't understand why anybody would go past two perfectly good saunas to go to this one.... I didn't like the facilities or lack of facilities and wasnt feeling the scant amount of guys that were there...I got there at about 5 PM and instantly wasn't feeling the whole set up of where there lockers AND No ambiance.... I don't want the regular looking guy off the street when I go to the saunas, I want the beach body boy that I see when Im on the beach or the one that I see in porno when Im back in ATL...I do not want anything close to what I can have any day of the week in the states....But I wanted to at least see what Tomcal was talking about with Meio and I did.... That is one thing I appreciate about both Pointe and 117 is the ease and ability to relax and socialize in a comfortable setting, especially 117...Love their outdoor sitting area and the "club room" I may be biased but based on the metro ride and the general location of the place, that was my first and last time checking it out... Hopped back on the metro and went to 117.... A lot less clients but definitely a good number of boys there...I would say maybe 12-14 clients and about 22 guys...I stayed there until about an hour but didn't find exactly what I was looking for....Hot married guy from Wed was not there.... Hit the metro to come back to Copacabana and exited right in front of my hotel and decided to go around the corner to see what was going on at Pointe.... Not as lively as Wed, no free cabins, but a good mix....Maybe 12-14 clients there and 18-20 boys.... Both guys I had on Wed were there but I was in the mood to relax....Just realized that if you go all the way up the stairs to where the boys change, there is ANOTHER sitting area that has an open ceiling where people smoke and another side of cabins....been going there for years and never noticed that area..... Had a great time looking at the guys but didn't play at all... Definitely looking to change that tonight...planning to go to both Pointe and 117 and then maybe to Le Boy for some music....Will let you know how the night goes.... I agree with some things. I do not like the facilities at all. In fact, I detest them. But, I do like the guys. They tend to be younger and more twinky than the other saunas. I didn't find just the regular looking guys when I went but I guess it is all when you go and what you are into. I hate the fact they don't have showers in the room. I also don't like the stairs. But, I have had more fun here than the other places on my last few trips. For years, I loved 117 and I still do but my last few trips, I felt like I was in a place that all the boys from Pointe came to. Just the way I felt. Thank you for sharing and I can't wait to check things out myself! Quote

Above the main sitting area, up some stairs if the upstairs shower, two bathroom stalls, the sauna-smells gross and wasnt working and the steam room....I like the steam room layout....plenty of dark corners for you to play with a potential snack but not too big to get lost OR not be able to see other couples playing as well... I agree with everything you've said about Meio Mundo. I've been there several times and just can't get into it. The kinds of guys that are there (twinks, little boy looking guys, average looking, regular guys) are not my thing at all. These are the types that often hit me up on social apps like Grindr and bars in the States, and I'm not going there to have what I could easily get on any night out in the USA. One reason why I rarely post here is because it seems the overwhelming majority of posters are posting about Meio Mundo over my preferred 117 and Pointe. Many posters here seem to poo-poo over Pointe because they don't like muscle guys. But those generally are my preferred type. I wish there was more info about them here, as well as photos. Although I do appreciate the info given here, it is a little skewed to the posters' tastes, one must admit. On my last trip (May), I directed to Meio Mundo a good friend who travels with me often but this was his first time in Rio. I really thought he would like MM since he tends to go for the thinner, taller, younger guys. To my surprise, he did not like the place, and spent the rest of his trip visiting 117 and Pointe, lookin, MsGuy and Badboy81 3 Quote

A guy here in Rio that I know does not like the saunas or the popular clubs at all but prefers darker skinned males like what I see everyday in Atlanta....the reason is although there are tons of Black Brazilians, there don't look or act the way black guys do in the states, ie, Atlanta....So we have a compromise, Ill introduce him to some educated, attractive, mid income black guys when he is in the states and I want him to introduce me to all the muscular, mixed looking, exotic type Brazilian guys I don't see in Atlanta.... lookin, TotallyOz and MsGuy 3 Quote

I was always a big 117 fan and still am. But, the past few trips, I found more guys from Meio Mundo. My first trip I found more at Pointe but then I got ripped off a few times at the door and that left a bad taste in my mouth so I stopped going very much. Still on my last trip, I was there too. I always go to them all just to see what is there. (or who) mvan1 1 Quote

That seems to be a good compromise. As you are from Atlanta, and mention black guys, I was there a while back and found tons of them on Grindr and at the clubs. I forget what club I was taken to but it had several cute black guys. It was right up my alley. Quote

It was right up my alley. Most of the black guys are at the predominantly black clubs in Atlanta. If you went to a club in Atlanta that only had several of them, then you didn't go to one of these. Most of the clubs, gay and straight, are fairly (voluntarily) segregated that way. I own several properties in Atlanta and go there for business quite often. The club and bar scene there for Afrcian-Americans is not what it used to be, unfortunately. There used to be tons of masculine, well-built black men all in the club and bar scene, and the predominantly black clubs were a place to hear amazing music and see hot masculine men. Now? Not so much. If you like twinks, chubbs and sissies, twerking to Nicki Minaj, then you'll be in heaven there now. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what happened. TotallyOz and lookin 2 Quote

I live in Atlanta and the club scene is very much alive and thumping...when people say the "scene" is not what it used to be, take into account that we all age out of certain clubs and scenes.... Atlanta has a club for every taste depending on the night of the week....If you are interested in muscular, masculine well built guys that are black, go to Bull Dogs, Thursday, large quantity so you will find your type...Also try going to Einsteins Friday after maybe 8 pm OR Sunday after 3-4 in the afternoon on a nice days....Plenty of muscular guys there.....Also try Mixx on Friday night...older crowd but again, a large mix of guys and you will find your type... Atlanta is one of the few cities that still caters to gay black men on a the regular which means you can go out every night of the week to something black and gay....My partying days in my city are long gone, ie, college days when I would go out on Thugged out Tuesday and Wednesday and Friday and Saturday, so I get it in during certain holiday weekends, hit some curcit parties for gay black men or travel outside of the country to experience something completely different..... If you need detailed info, I can get it for you....just let me know what you need.... lookin and TotallyOz 2 Quote
Members axiom2001 Posted July 5, 2015 Members Posted July 5, 2015 I'm cracking up because this thread has seemingly veered away from Meio Mundo and Point 202. While in Rio I've gone to all of the saunas which have garatos! My preferences are MM & Club 117. For me Point was hopping and jumping from 2002 {my first visit} through 2009, but five years ago, it was dullsville; prehaps, from these most recent reports, it's beginning to be revitalized! So men, please get on point! Quote

Dude, thanks for the advice, but I own several properties in Atlanta, have a business there, and I'm there often enough to at least leave one car parked in a garage for use while I'm there. We all have different types and different perceptions. But I will say that if you think there are a lot of muscular, masculine black guys at Bulldogs, Einsteins or The Mixx, then sorry, but we just have vastly different perceptions of what that is. Yes, perceptions change as we get older, but also, we have more to compare to. Atlanta is still one of the best places in the USA for black gay social life, but sadly, the party crowd at the bars and clubs has changed. Much of that could be generational, maybe some of it cultural. Other than that (and the political landscape outside of metro Atlanta, which is ridiculously rednecky), it's not a bad place to live or to conduct business. But come on -- the black gay club scene in Atlanta has seriously deteriorated. I wish it were not so, but that's the general consensus. mvan1 and lookin 2 Quote

There are so many other places you can visit and own businesses in that offer exactly what you want..... Cheers Quote

You're all over the place. Gyms everywhere have muscular men. That's why they are gyms. But that is completely off point. And I certainly wouldn't stop doing business or sell a business somewhere because of what the men look like in the bars or even the gyms, unless my business hinged upon that particularly market or demographic. However, I certainly might retire / semi-retire somewhere because of it! Quote
