Then what is the answer?- Not to be deluded by dreams.
To know that great civilizations have broken down into violence,
and their tyrants come, many times before.
When open violence appears, to avoid it with honor or choose
the least ugly faction; these evils are essential.
To keep one's own integrity, be merciful and uncorrupted
and not wish for evil; and not be duped
By dreams of universal justice or happiness. These dreams will
not be fulfilled.
To know this, and know that however ugly the parts appear
the whole remains beautiful. A severed hand
Is an ugly thing and man dissevered from the earth and stars
and his history... for contemplation or in fact...
Often appears atrociously ugly. Integrity is wholeness,
the greatest beauty is
Organic wholeness, the wholeness of life and things, the divine beauty
of the universe. Love that, not man
Apart from that, or else you will share man's pitiful confusions,
or drown in despair when his days darken.

I lived in San Francisco for 33 years before I just retired to Ft. Lauderdale. It never got tired to just go 15 miles from the city past the 280 freeway and you would think you were in a different world. Many times on a Sunday I would just take a ride down the coast as an escape from city life.

HA!...I was in LA my whole life, and made that run up HWY 1 to San Francisco countless times. To me it was just magical. Now I'm in Fort Lauderdale also...what was I thinking? lol

Fort Lauderdale ! So, have you found your fountain of Youth ?

Even more amazing at 1500 feet and 150 knots. I have been from Torrance to Tacoma and back which is this route and more. Just avoid the busy airports, do not disturb the wildlife sanctuaries and go. I have a video of this trip somewhere in my files.

I always like to visit CA and have friends there but have no desire to live there.

Yes...lol...every time I tip the dancing boys they tell me how young and cute I am, right up until 'last call', then they take the money I gave them, go get something to eat and go home and fuck their girl friends.

Well, at least you have some instant gratification. I have found that if I stand and look in the mirror and tell MYSELF those things,

I save tons of money, and have lots of new fabulous shoes.
