I'm making a short visit to Singapore for leisure. I plan to tour the city and the spectacular botanical gardens. I'm not planning to meet any guys there.

If anyone has details on places to visit, where to eat and any particular local customs, I'd be grateful for the info.

I have stayed at the Intercontinental there about 10 times and LOVE it. It is in a great area and has tons of shopping areas around it.

The city is amazing and I love the vibe.

Just don't throw either gum wrappers or the gum itself on the ground. ^_^

Best regards,

Given the bizarre laws discussed in the below cited article, I think it would be impossible to take a "leisure" trip to Singapore.

Gay sex is illegal and comes with a two-year jail term.

It is illegal to walk around your house naked

And, see this article - http://www.businessinsider.com/absurd-laws-of-singapore-2012-6

It's been some 30+ years since I was in Singapore. At that time I did not like the city very much because it was much too, too sterile. Gay life was lacking as well. But, as an older gentleman who's retired, I some day hope that I will be able to return to this city.

In terms of places to visit, etc., see what's at www.Tripadvisor.com for your city. Also, check out www.viator.com, an exceptionally helpful touring and cultural site. I used the services of this company when I went to both Barcelona and Berlin in 2013. I did the "hop on hop off" bus tours in both cities and took some specifically, related tours. All were stellar, and I'd highly recommend. [A cousin of mine used viator when she and her husband went to Italy last year.]

I've been living in Singapore for about seven years now. All I can say is gay cruising is mainly concentrated in two bars and the gay apps. The most popular is bar is called Tantric which has a lot of Asian guys looking to hook-up with white guys. However, BE VERY CAREFUL. This is a safe city with crime rate not going above 1%. You can walk in the streets at night while carrying tons of cash and your mobile phone and still make it to your hotel safe. People are generally afraid of committing crimes because the government knows EVERYTHING about the people in the island. Cameras are EVERYWHERE too.

So why am I telling you to be very careful? The danger takes a different turn here. There is some degree of desperation among Asians to marry a Caucasian. These people could have stable jobs here but a life in the US or Europe, where men are not required to do military service or face pressure from conservative Asian families to marry, is sweeter. Some would go back to your hotel (this is safe) for a night of fun but would force you to take him with you when you leave. Some go the extra mile of making sure they have evidences of the night that was to use to threaten you. Gay sex is illegal and it's more difficult for foreigners.

There are a lot of boys for rent on Gay Romeo. Most are from Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. Quality is definitely not as good as other parts of Asia. These are usually the desperate ones who do not sell well in their countries but seems to appeal so much to Caucasians - the very exotic kinds. The Indonesians are the cheapest at around $80. The rest go for $150 (1US$ = 1.25S$).

Singapore has also become a destination for Caucasian/Latino/Middle Eastern escorts. Perhaps they recognized this island's fascination for big dicks. Almost everybody charges S$300 for an hour at their hotel. S$350 for outcall.

As for saunas, just forget it. Don't risk it.

Guest incessant - what a load of nonsense. Do you live in SG? Where do you get this information from?

It is true that officially gay sex is illegal in SG, but it is only because of the retard government having no guts to abolish it and join the ranks of civilized countries. However, the law is not enforced and even their former prime minister that had been in power for decades said that the country will not persecute gays, but the law will remain because SG society is conservative. There is a medium size, totally open gay scene there: no doorbells or bouncers filtering the crowd as it is the case in Eastern Europe, where gay sex is actually legal. Tantric is packed on weekends and saunas are busy almost everyday.

Grindr and other apps are full of guys willing to meet, especially if you are Caucasian. I spent 6 days there and 100 messages on grindr daily was a norm. Almost all guys in their 20s, 30s: students, professionals and even... soldiers. One soldier sent me a message offering to meet for sex. We both did not have a place so I suggested Cruise sauna, but he said he was coming straight from the barracks and he is wearing uniform so he would feel awkward. In the end, we did not meet. Such a shame.

Guys! Go and enjoy Singapore. Nothing will happen to you. Just obey their rules. And when it comes to gay stuff, don't be afraid - so long you are in gay establishments or in private space, there is no danger. Public display of affection is not advisable though and sex in public is a no no. You would get into trouble, but not for having sex, but for public indecency.

There is a reason why a lot of Singaporean gays go to Thailand for party and sex. Even their gay circuit party "The Nation" was not held in Singapore for a couple years. The locals know better than you and I.
