Members RA1 Posted April 16, 2015 Members Posted April 16, 2015 Why are so many astonished by a political protester using "any" means to deliver a message? I view this guy's efforts to be misguided and misdirected but I support his right to protest. Isn't this part of the history of this country? Why does the silly media think it so strange that a small, almost invisible on radar, craft might be able to transverse restricted airspace? Yes, he could have been shot down by rifle fire without much difficulty. Thanks for not doing that. Consider this analogy. It is totally illegal to speed on the nation's highways. What are the results, unless caught doing so? Usually nothing. The point being that not speeding and not violating restricted airspace are largely voluntary actions as accepted by law abiding citizens. This man intended a protest and was using an unusual method to deliver same. Unless he is found guilty of potential harm for some other reason, perhaps a bit of counseling and admonishment might be almost the worst of it. A fine and don't do it again might suffice. I know we are not becoming too civilized, only too rule bound. Best regards, RA1 Quote
Members MsGuy Posted April 16, 2015 Members Posted April 16, 2015 Idjits will act like idjits. Hard to formulate an effective rule against being an idjit. Thankfully the sniper teams stationed around the White House had the good sense or compassion not to take him out. Or maybe they were on a smoke break. Whatever, I would bet that if he had swerved that toy chopper over toward the White House instead of landing, the world would have woken up short one idjit today. The problem posed here is that it's difficult to determine until after the fact whether he's an idjit on a gyrocopter or he's an idjit on a gyrocopter stuffed with ten pounds of semtex. Do you really think the rule against demonstrations on the lawn of the White House is too restrictive? Quote
Members RA1 Posted April 16, 2015 Author Members Posted April 16, 2015 I think they need to go back to grazing sheep on the White House lawn. Then, maybe there would be some useful inhabitants of the premises. Best regards, RA1 MsGuy 1 Quote

This...We are a land of laws, and as such he violated several, and should be punished accordingly regardless of his good intentions, unless of course he is a Democratic. IF that is the case we should pack up his little Gyro thingamajig and the Secret Service should drive him back to Florida. MsGuy 1 Quote
Members lookin Posted April 18, 2015 Members Posted April 18, 2015 The problem posed here is that it's difficult to determine until after the fact whether he's an idjit on a gyrocopter or he's an idjit on a gyrocopter stuffed with ten pounds of semtex. I think the semtex would move it from the gyro category to the arms category, and then his Second Amendment rights would kick in. Quote
