Members RA1 Posted April 15, 2015 Members Posted April 15, 2015 I know you will bite but I ask you to be careful with your teeth. OK, a short synopsis. AL was melancholy. AL was not so much against slavery as he was against "bad" economics. AL suffered a LOT for the bad stuff that was happening with a civil war. This whole idea was not good. AL tried very hard to have a meeting of the minds before the civil war as well as his expected "after". Remember, some of the economics were cotton vs. manufacturing. Not an easy choice then or now. The family difficulties were present but not part of my analysis. I am sorry for any and all of those. Those times were different from today. Some of this is bad and some of it good. AdamSmith Posted April 15, 2015 Author Posted April 15, 2015 Ah! That stuff. One more thing above all, from the bios and history I read, was his dread that disunion of the U.S. would make the resulting pieces all easier pickings for the various European powers. Quote
