Well Axiom, glad your recap states that in the end you did have a good time in spite of the "missed opportunities", but it only gives you something to look forward to the next time around.

AND, you did have one Big cuban cock, so you got your obligatory "souvenir" .

Thanks for posting your "diary" for us. I for one was very anxious to hear how it went..

Welcum back.

Well done Axiom. It sounds like this trip you kinda just got your feet wet and tested the lay of the land. I'm hoping that things get easier for travel in the next few years. All in all, it sounds like a good time was had by all. ;)

Hey Axiom, Thanks for the great report. You did better than I during my trip to Havana last fall. I too was with an organized tour that made it tough to break away and explore on my own. My Spanish is not great, but its enough to communicate the basics with a local guy. But in spite of that, it just didn't happen for me. I did meet a couple of stunning (absolutley stunning!) guys for sale hanging around Avenida 23 near the National Hotel, but my hotel would not let native Cubans visit my room either and I had been warned about going to a place chosen by someone on the street. I can't wait to return. Like you, I plan to do things a bit differently next time.

Thank you Axiom for the report.

You say that "I have lots of good contact info. regarding tours, hotels, restaurants, etc. If you would like this, I'll post for all" and I for one would welcome you publishing all that information here. It may well prove useful for some people now and perhaps for many more people in the future.

Thanks axiom! Organized tours are difficult to negotiate free time. :/. I use Cuba junky website to book casa particulars. These are people renting our rooms for a fee of $30usd/cuc. Some advertise as gay as well, Also, planet romeo is used in Cuba as the main source of contact. Or it was a few years ago. Guys can be found at humbolt 52, on the malecon near humbolt, and in the park in old town Havana near the hotels. Also, micayito beach is full of available men. I've heard very mixed stories regarding yunior as a tour guide. I suggest going to humbolt 52 and making contacts there for tours and whatnot. As an American, I flew to Mexico city and bought a cash ticket with interjet and flew to Cuba that way. Take lots of euros or Canadian dollars if you are from the states.

I feel that getting in trouble with U.S. authorities is very minimal these days. I asked for no stamps on my passport when I arrived in Havana and they obliged.

Axiom, Cuba really is an island full of amazing men isn't it? Gorgeous faces and bodies everywhere. Such a warm friendly place. It's in my heart for sure. Thank you for your great post.

Is this the Humbolt 52 you mean? If so, as of last month, it is closed.

Hello to all our fans, customers, friends and future friends .. It's a shame to announce that at this time our Humboldt52 is closed, Unica cause has been that in a routine inspection have found that our customers like to dance and that kind not allowed in a restaurant (licensed possess) because in our country there is even the possibility of license bar.
We are in the process of appeal to the office where they belong said inspectors and we are confident that our explanations will be heard and soon we will be open again .. This explanation I write primarily because you, our customers, our future customers, in short all those who visit us, friends deserve to know the truth because we are closed and secondly because I have received some of the comments that have been made in the street, drugs, dead, discussions etc and each version I hear really bothering far have made me laugh ... Thank you and will keep you informed .. Congratulations for Valentine's Day and best wishes. With love and the certainty of seeing you soon in Humboldt. Carlos Manuel

Thank you!

If I may add to your post, I found that the last link works if you input http://cubaguiagay.blogspot.co.uk/ If you don't understand Spanish, Google translates it into English more or less.

Thanks! It now works for others!

If no hotels allow visitors and there are no sex saunas where does sex happen? Has anyone tried AirBnb yet?

Note my postings of information. In it is Frank's email address; he can obtain apartments as well as room rentals, the latter by the hour, too. How do I know? He and I addressed it in our most recent emails to each other. Also, at one of my posted data, there's a website that lists lots of private houses for rent; some are gay friendly!

In terms of http://www.airbnb.com, I have not used their services for Cuba but did for Barcelona and Berlin. My experience was supreme all around from the initial bookings to my departure and return. Guests, if they choose, are asked to write reviews, and the property owners can do likewise on behalf of the occupants of their property. The owner of the property in Berlin wrote a stellar review in terms of how I treated his apartment, etc.

If you would like a reparable gay man as a tour guide, [...not a procurer of escorts, but he might have that on his site for self- protection!] contact Luis @ http://www.gaycubatourguide.com. A week ago I went to his site on FB after a man who'd used Luis's services had written on his own site about Luis. I sent the fellow a message and received the most pleasant and candidly assuring site as to Luis's trustworthiness and professional dealings. He also mentioned in his FB response to me that Yunior is not as he purports to be. He, too, has a website, and he's the one who did NOT get with me for a gay tour once I'd arrived and as promised many months in advance with a few updates along the way.

If I manage to return to Havana in December of this year, I'm definitely hoping Luis will be available for me!

I also found his website and am using Luis on my upcoming trip to Havana May 30th. I looked at "airbnb" for a private apartment and found that the prices for most of the casa particulars on their site were $5 to $20 per night higher then the other rental sites and that was not including the fees charged by airbnb.

Since returning to the States some four months back, I've begun to read and search the net for some valuable and useful information to use during my next trip to Cuba. One source is mentioned in this post: http://www.cuba-junky.com. I really like this site; it gives a list and description and reviews of the hotels, casa particulars, and other lodgings in Cuba. It lists the ones where English is spoken and the ones which are "gay friendly" as well. One of our fellow travelers wrote briefly about the one in which he stayed, or perhaps he wrote about it to me in a private. I plan to return in 2016 with or without a group. By that time I do hope the travel restrictions have been lifted for US citizens. If that has happened by the time of my trip, I'll stay in hotels as well as at casa particulars.

I'm not sure if it's appropriate to ask here. Is Yoel good? He definitely looks older than 21 yo, that makes me wonder what else could be 'fake' or 'enhanced' in his profile? And his personality? Actually he's been sending me a lot of emails and trying to convince me to take him as my 'guide' through my stay in Havana. I don't mind if he's really as advertised. He helped me to nail down a room from Frank, who seems to be very reliable. I speak some Spanish and so far we've been conversing without problem.

Since this would have been more appropriately sent as a private, I will answer you in a pvt. message. I am now immediately going to gayromeo to see if Yoel's ad is back up. It's been down for over 2 or 3 months, and when Frank and I corresponded via email, I mentioned it to Frank, and he wrote a few words addressing it!

Great feedback.....Cuba is still not on my list until it get a little more developed/touristy...If Brazil and Dominican Republic are both developing countries, I can imagine what Cuba is like...

I especially like your feedback about your difficulty finding the "Americanized" Cuban foods we enjoy in Miami....

First I need to apologize for my delay in posting from my trip to Havana which was the end of July changed from May. I did hire Luis as a guide for most of the week. In fact I emailed him yesterday because I thought I would be going back to Havana in early December however that has changed to Mexico City.

I stayed in a private apartment in Centro Havana. A one bedroom with a nice living room and balcony two blocks from the Malecon. It had a nice kitchen which was useless because there was very little food available in the supermarkets. Even in the agros selection was limited to a few fruits and vegetables.

Went to Humbolt 3 nights and did go home with someone each night but the guys though very attractive were not as muscular as I like. Also having had sex with 5 different guys only one was over 7 inches. Luis told me yesterday that Humbolt is closed for a law violation. So the only hustler bar open is Las Vegas. But at Las Vegas the selection seemed limited .Though I did go home with a very attractive guy who came back for dinner the next night with my attempt to cook with ingredients from the market. It is the first time I had to buy onion powder form a case under lock and key.

The restaurants were good and there are so many opening I would check with Trip Advisor before I go to Havana, However, none of the Cuban favorites we have in Miami were available in Havana there was no Cuban bread, guava pastries or Cuban sandwiches. The 2 times I had black beans and rice it was watery. The rum is great and probably the best I have had in the Caribbean the honey is also amazing. You should bring some home. It is sold in the departure area of the airport.

So as you can see I am not talking much about the sex. It was OK and prices were $30 to $50 per session. This was the cost for the cream of the crop for my taste which in Brazil is the model type. Remember however, you will take a 13% hit on your US Dollar currency conversion. I was lucky because the owners of the apartment gave me a 96% exchange rate.

I would go back on business but would spend my money to go to Brazil. A charter flight is going to cost you $500 from Florida. The apartment rental was $35 per night and breakfast at a cafe will cost $5. In my opinion the selection of guys is not there plus the over an hour wait for your luggage at the airport.

All of the people are very nice. There was never a feeling of being unsafe at anytime of day or night. One piece of advice if you do take a guy back to your apartment let him walk a few feet in front of you. If the police see him walking next to you he is going to be hassled. This was even true for Luis.

On Luis and his tour service he is great, always on time but he does not get guys for you. He will help with the translation if there is someone you want to speak with. It is worth spending the money for a guide. I would rate the trip 3 stars out of 5 and that is because of the food more than the sex.

What an interesting and well organized account of your trip.

Considering that you included a great amount of information relative to your trip, I am not clear why you added your excellent report as an addendum to an existing thread titled with a different person's name.

Over time, your post being added to an already existing thread will make it difficult to locate the valuable information that you provided.

I suggest that you copy your report then make it a new and separate thread with your own title.

Your report covers a lot of information that is not readily available even from internet searches and not available in the existing thread. Therefore, your information deserves its own thread.

If you decide to make a separate thread, you can ask OZ to delete the post you added to a thread that is titled with a different person's name and the other person's trip to Cuba.

This is just my opinion and, of course, if you are happy with your report being at the tail end of another thread, so be it.

Despite the above suggestion and comments, thanks for taking the time to prepare and post hard-to-find information about Cuba. I found the information useful.
