Gaybutton Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 There are two common complaints. One is that the local news media never follows up on a pedophile story. The other is that farang are automatically guilty simply because they are farang. Not this time. The following appears in PATTAYA ONE: ( see http://www.pattayaone.net/news_26_09_51_4.html for photos) _____ Suspect Cleared by the Courts in Recent Pedophole Case The Pattaya Court has rejected the case against Mr. Luc Jean Marie Vos from Holland and the public prosecutor will not sue him for the allegation of indecent behaviour towards an underage boy because of a false allegation. The boy involved confirmed in a second investigation by the police and the public prosecutor that he had lied about this allegation. This case put Mr. Luc Vos and his Thai family consisting of his son Jadet and three children Kriangkrai, Pariwat and Parivit under a lot of pressure and therefore we would like to offer him the possibility to clear his name. The story released about this case in May 2008 was not true and damaged the good name and privacy of Mr. Luc Vos. Mr. Luc Vos tells us he loves Thailand and the people and tries to be a good person to everybody and does all that is possible to take good care of his Thai family. Mr. Luc Vos does not believe that Pattaya is not a safe place to live for him and his family and is very motivated to take care of them especially after this case to make sure the three children will have a good future and life. Mr. Luc Vos apologises to anyone in case they have experienced personal problems because of this case against him . Quote
Guest luvthai Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 It s good to hear that the courts do correct themselves and in this case a good guy won. Lets hope that the last guy arrested has a good outcome as well. Quote

Guest lvdkeyes Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 And what about the so called 'raped' boy? Would be great to read somewhere what will happen to this piece of sh*t. The farang can sue him for whatever he lost i.e., wages. He can also file a police report and have the boy arrested. Quote
Guest lester1 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Am I the only on who is puzzled by all this. I can appreciate that much of the newspaper article has been translated from Thai into English, but there are certain phrases that confuse me as to exactly what they mean. 1.....'.and therefore we would like to offer him the opportunity to clear his name'. That is slightly different from saying that the case would be dropped due to false allegation. 2......'Mr Vos apologises to anyone in case they have experienced personal problems due to the case against him' I cannot believe he would want to apologise to anybody; it would be rather the other way round. It would also have been nice if the Pattaya Mail had lashed into the authorities a bit for bringing a dodgy case so far, and it goes without saying that as the mail enjoyed smearing it all over its news pages, then it too might have issued an apology. (yes, I know, the press doesnt work like that) I am also interested in the comments of some of my message board colleagues. Lvdkeyes suggests that the underage boy can be sued for loss of wages and can file a police report and have the boy arrested. I dont think that it is going to work even if it was remotely possible. Joseph 44 has it in for the boy involved without even considering how much pressure the boy was under to say something in the first place. What I would finally add is that the guy, even if totally innocent and royally smeared, must have had some top notch and expensive legal help to extricate himself from the problem and of course we have no idea how much money changed hands. Although the press release was careful to avoid making the police or prosecutor lose face, it is most unusual for the authorities to admit mistakes like this. Quote

Guest luvthai Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I'm going to throw this in here as it has happened before and I am not saying this is what has happened. In the past it has happened that the parents were paid off and the boy changes his story. This was in the past a way for parents to score big and I know of two incidents where this happened. Again I am not saying this is what happened. Quote

If I found myself in a similar sort of situation, I guess this is what I would try to do rather than trust to the court's judgement. The problem is the more it happens, the more it will continue to happen. I wonder if there is any punishment on the statute books for underage boys/girls who are found to have lied in such cases. Only if there are fairly stiff sanctions is the practise likely to stop. I agree, tho', that we'll probably never know what happened in this case - or in most others. Quote
