One World Trade Center: how New York tried to rebuild its soul When Ground Zero was finally cleared after the fall of the twin towers, New Yorkers trusted that thoughtful, ambitious urban design could make the city whole again. Members RA1 Posted September 8, 2014 Members Posted September 8, 2014 Unfortunately, most of those things were going on long before the attack of 911. This simply became a branch of chicanery and political graft, although one that touches us all rather than just New Yorkers and visitors thereof. Thanks for the link. Best regards, RA1 Quote
Members Cany10011 Posted September 8, 2014 Members Posted September 8, 2014 Very well written article. Downtown NYC is booming but the transportation infrastructure like the article alludes is left wanting. I wish the Calatrava building did not undergo revisions due to budget, it would have been awesome if the "wings" of the building opened and closed like originally planned. Quote
Members lookin Posted September 8, 2014 Members Posted September 8, 2014 . . . it would have been awesome if the "wings" of the building opened and closed like originally planned. Hadn't heard that. Fascinating! According to this article, even though the wings won't move, A slender skylight that runs the length of the spine of the cathedral-like building will open each Sept. 11. Inside, visitors will see elements of the reconstructed skyline and up to the sky, itself part of the enduring iconography of Sept. 11. AdamSmith 1 Quote
