AdamSmith Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 31 Adorable Slang Terms for Sexual Intercourse from the Last 600 Years Lexicographer Jonathon Green’s comprehensive historical dictionary of slang, Green’s Dictionary of Slang, covers hundreds of years of jargon, cant, and naughty talk. He has created a series of online timelines (here and here) where the words too impolite, indecent, or risqué for the usual history books are arranged in the order they came into fashion. (If you don’t see any words on the timelines, zoom out using the bar on the right.) We’ve already had fun with the classiest terms for naughty bits. Here are the most adorable terms for sexual intercourse from the last 600 or so years. Many of them have origins so obscure they hardly make sense at all, but that doesn’t detract from their bawdy adorability in the slightest. When it comes to the ol’ houghmagandy, a little mystery goes a long way. 1. Give someone a green gown (1351) 2. Play nug-a-nug (1505) 3. Play the pyrdewy (1512) 4. Play at couch quail (1521) 5. Guest CharliePS Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 No.5 refers to a piece of tack that is used to hold a horse's saddle in place; it is fastened around the horse's ass. A carrack (#16) was a late medieval ship that rocked a lot on the waves. Paphos (#13) was the Greek city dedicated to the worship of Aphrodite, the goddess of sexual love. Houghmagandy (#24) certainly sounds Scottish. I suspect that #3 and maybe #21 and 22 are attempts at phonetic English transcriptions of French terms. St. George slaying the dragon is a standard icon for Britain, but I don't understand the meaning of #23. And, no, I didn't look up any of this. Quote

Members RA1 Posted September 1, 2014 Members Posted September 1, 2014 Mr. Average- I don't for a minute believe you do ANY of those things. Your average day might be astounding clients, having a gourmet meal, enjoying some gourmet wine and then, with your dinner companion, enjoying a night of sheer joy under the sheets. Do I have it right? Best regards, RA1 Quote
AdamSmith Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Well, doing those things in an average way. Quote

Guest hitoallusa Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I don't know why they would use slang terms when they could simply just say "making love" Quote
AdamSmith Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 I don't know why they would use slang terms when they could simply just say "making love" Because that very often is not what is going on at all. As you well know. Quote
AdamSmith Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Does that mean doing those things 3.5 days out of 7? Wouldn't that be closer to 'half-assed'? Quote
Members RA1 Posted September 1, 2014 Members Posted September 1, 2014 If I get that far, I am only encouraged. Best regards, RA1 AdamSmith 1 Quote
