AdamSmith Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 urbandictionary.com calls this one. moderator Moderators are assigned to "moderate" something which means they are in charge of seeing that it does what it is supposed to do and nothing more. Most moderators are driven mad by their lust for power and will cause suffering and hatred at every turn because it makes them happy to see others unhappy. What the other definitions here leave out is that moderators aren't just for forums or websites. There are moderators of sorts in games, chat rooms and many other places. All of them are nerdy teenages who get back at life for making them monsters by taking their anger out on anyone they can. I used to play a really cool MUD called Moongate until the moderators(called immortals for some gay reason) went mad with power, changed the name of the game and banned me for trying to report a bug. Losers. http://cs.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=moderator Quote

AdamSmith Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Likewise... admin Short for administrator. Someone who performs administrative duties on a network, server, forum, etc Admins are known to use their powers for acts considered unsuitable after they gain them. Similar to a dictator. Admins often give administrative privlidges to their friends who are also morons and will also abuse the power. This has created the situation we now have where there was once an admin who was okay but then he turned bad and turned his assholes friends into admins and they turned their assholes friends into admins etc Therefore Every Admin is very much likely a moron and abuses their powers similar to a dictator. Try and prove me wrong but every admin is a corrupt abusive jerkface http://cs.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=admin Quote
Guest callipygian Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Moderators are assigned to "moderate" something which means they are in charge of seeing that it does what it is supposed to do and nothing more. I'm personally calling upon Carl Saygan to help me with this. Oh wait.... Quote
AdamSmith Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 forum Best described as a torrent of little children running around in a minefield (users), some armed with weapons (moderators), forums are the flagship of internet discussion, spam, and flame wars. Smaller forums tend to be more habitable, but the larger ones have many distinct and similar features. For example, within approximately seven seconds of the creation of a topic, you will have at least one reply, garunteed. Large forums also tend to spawn makeshift caste systems within themselves, and you're automatically a malefactor in the forum until you have a 4-digit post count. A forum can sometimes be helpful, but normally they become a time consuming and frustrating thing if you pay too much attention to them. I got banned from that forum for being a n00b. http://cs.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=forum Quote

Members MsGuy Posted August 15, 2014 Members Posted August 15, 2014 moderator Moderators are assigned to "moderate" something which means they are in charge of seeing that it does what it is supposed to do and nothing more. Most moderators are driven mad by their lust for power and will cause suffering and hatred at every turn because it makes them happy to see others unhappy. What the other definitions here leave out is that moderators aren't just for forums or websites. Quite right, AS. Interestingly enough, moderators are also found in nuclear reactors. Somewhat counter-intuitively, there moderators serve to force feed the the fission reactions, thereby driving the heat in the reactor vessel much higher than it would be if left to its own devices. Over moderation can rapidly lead to a complete nuclear meltdown, rendering a site unsafe to humans for years. Hmmm...maybe not so counter-intuitive after all. Quote
AdamSmith Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Are there NO sexual acts or references that Adam Smith is not familiar with? The last line especially in this scene from "Pretty Baby" is exquisite. Bellocq: [about Violet] What will become of her now? Nell: What's going on with you? You don't have to worry about her. She's made a lot of money. She can do as she likes. Bellocq: She's only twelve. She's completely alone. Nell: Bellocq, you're in love with her. Bellocq: Don't be absurd. Nell: I've seen it a thousand times. I am old, and I know one thing -- life is very long. Quote
AdamSmith Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Interestingly enough, moderators are also found in nuclear reactors. I considered going into all that, with suitable anecdotes from Fermi et al. on the challenges of finding the right moderator but then it seemed just too quotidian for tonight's finer strain. The summary you elucidate btw is not really either counter-intuitive or the main point but thank you anyway for the mopping up. Quote

Guest callipygian Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I have to believe - that if there once were any interested candidates in coming forth before - they are now in line at Denny's competing for their competitive over-night - shift application. I once dated one who first served me a scramble. It was wet and under-cooked. But we got along because I tipped well. Quote

Members RA1 Posted August 15, 2014 Members Posted August 15, 2014 Of course pilots keep the nose wheel on the center line during take-offs, landings and while taxiing. The center line is one's best insurance against having mud on your tires. And, egg on your face. A smart pilot does not drink while flying. Most foolish pilots also adhere to that rule. We get our highs sort of like John Denver but without the mountains. At the end of the duty day that noise you hear is 10,000 pilots opening a can of beer. Best regards, RA1 Quote
