TotallyOz Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 This has been one thing that we have never had much of here at Boytoy and the Male Escort Review. There was just never much need for it. When we started, we had Barry, Tampa and myself. As Barry moved on, it was just Tampa and myself. As Tampa moved on, we had only me and the new admins for the site, Boytoy. That now leaves us with two. With the all the mess that went on last week with the Daddy threads, it seems to me that perhaps we need to reconsider the system here. To be totally frank, I will very soon be heading off to a new adventure in life and while I'll still be around, the remote location I'll be at I have never been before and I am not sure how much access to Internet I'll have. I really won't know till I get there. But, if I had to guess, the Internet speed will be very slow or non-existent. However, I just won't know till the end of August. In the meantime, I wanted to throw this out there. We do need more moderators on the site. We need men who are fair and have shown a willingness to stick with us through thick and thin. I am thinking of doing this a few ways. But, am totally open to suggestions. One, I was considering just offering everyone that has over 2,000 or 3,000 posts on the site the ability to be a moderator and if they chose to participate, they could do so with their own name or another name like Mod1 or Mod2. We could create a new forum that only the mods could see and when an issue arises, the mods would vote on the solution to the issue and majority rules regarding setting posts to invisible, moderating topics as well as closing threads. All could be done very democratically. Two, I could just ask for volunteers and choose who I wish. (not good for me as I would not choose anyone who has not been active on the site to a great extent) Three, we could keep things the way they are but this is my worst fear as when I head into the great blue yonder of a 3rd World country, I would hate to not be around when things needed to get done. In the end, this site has always run with very little moderation and I hope this continues. But, I would love a plan in place that allows for other members to take a more active role in participation. Quote
Members Lucky Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 I nominate Suckrates and Adam Smith. Let those two fight it out! But, good wishes on your new adventure! Quote
TotallyOz Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 I nominate Suckrates and Adam Smith. Let those two fight it out! But, good wishes on your new adventure! Thanks for your input. I agree, both would be excellent! Quote
Members MsGuy Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 Thanks for your input. I agree, both would be excellent! Oz, to quote your own inimitable self: "ARE YOU INSANE?" ---- Hmmm...what about asking deej to mod for a while? I mean just until you get someone permanent trained up. He's got a lot of experience. Or what about pairing deej with Hito? If you could find some way to average them out, they'd make a pretty good mod. Quote
TotallyOz Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 Oz, to quote your own inimitable self: ARE YOU INSANE? Damn you, now you have me going to the dictionary at 1AM looking up words like inimitable. Man, on man, this is not easy for a poor uneducated boy from Alabama. AdamSmith 1 Quote
TotallyOz Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 Wow, thanks MSGuy! The first sentence was a true compliment. But, the insane part? Of course not! I am the one who had 7 gogo boys living with him in Thailand and hired a full-time manager to take care of them, a housekeeper to clean for them and a cook to feed us all. Insane? Nope. Just a bit quirky. Quote
Members MsGuy Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 BTW, what kind of pest infected hell hole are you traipsing off to now? The only large swath of land w/o internet access these days is equatorial Africa (can you say "EBOLA"?). Are you fulfilling some kind of vow to your mother to come to Jesus and go on a mission trip for the SBC? I mean, WTF man, do you realize that any place w/o internet probably doesn't have air-conditioning either? Somehow I just can't picture you sleeping under mosquito netting. Jeez and you thought Air India was bad. Quote

All you'd need to add would be to call the manager 'Mama san' and charge off fees for the boys. Quote
Members lookin Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 BTW, what kind of pest infected hell hole are you traipsing off to now? Tell them they're all banned until I get back from Aqaba. MsGuy 1 Quote
Members MsGuy Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 Actually, lookin, Aqaba has decent internet service these days. It's got a Hilton and a McDonalds too. Quote
Members lookin Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 Actually, lookin, Aqaba has decent internet service these days. You sure sound like moderator material to me! Nomination submitted. Lucky 1 Quote
Members MsGuy Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 As you no doubt recall, Mr. Lookin, we have had this discussion before... And the last time you left me standing forlorn at the altar. Should I notify the headsman that he's being recalled from layoff? Or are you going to leave me sobbing amidst my broken dreams of power again? ---- And since you've already brought up this painful matter, I don't remember ever receiving your reimbursement check for those expensive shoes I bought. It's not like I could just re-purpose them for some other event and Hito never made me a firm offer. Quote
AdamSmith Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 And the last time you left me standing forlorn at the altar. Ahem. If one recalls, you begged off claiming technical illiteracy. Quote
Members MsGuy Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 Well, I changed my mind! I was planning to rely on lookin to handle all that tech. I'm more a 'Big Picture' type of guy, "Off with their heads" and that kind of stuff. Quote
AdamSmith Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 and Hito never made me a firm offer. That uses up your pun quota for the month. Quote

Guest hitoallusa Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I nominate MsGuy too... I didn't know deej was interested in pairing with me.. There are so many guys who could be my hubby.... Quote
Members citylaw1 Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 I suppose that you do need some moderation help, but number of posts seems like a poor barometer. Sometimes the ones with the most to say are the worst party guests. Perhaps length of participation and hours spent logged in? I bet the lurkers would actually improve the desired outcome rather than the blowhards. Quote
Members RA1 Posted August 11, 2014 Members Posted August 11, 2014 I certainly cannot speak for TOZ but how do you propose to know who has sincere and deep interest in this forum without using such as frequency of posting? No doubt lurkers are splendid fellows but what capital do they expend towards the betterment of the forum? I am sure your heart is in the right place (left chest) but think about what you are saying, please. Best regards, RA1 Quote
AdamSmith Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Also, hours spent logged in has no necessary correlation to participation. As Oz noted yesterday, with the proper browser settings it is possible to remain logged in all the time, even when your browser is closed and your computer is off. Quote

Best regards, RA1 "Sincere and deep interests" aren't always reflected in number of posts is what I'm saying. Especially when a majority of those posts serve as a hammer towards someone else. If Oz chooses this method, he, in my opinion. should use today's total posts, email the top 40 posters, and ask them if they would like to moderate. Of those interested out of the 40, allow each member, as of this date, the opportunity to cast 1 vote. Sound reasonable? Quote
