Damn Mosquitoes

I have a hell of a time with mosquitoes and they seem to love me. In order to get rid of them, I bought a few bug killer contraptions. I thought they might work but they didn't and were useless. I asked the boyfriend about them and he said, "well, the mosquito catcher is written in English and Thai mosquitoes have a hard time understanding they are supposed to go inside and die. Do you want me to put a Thai translation on it for you?" he said with a smile.

Have you tried those contraptions that consist of a small bowl filled with some sort of a liquid, that plugs into electrical outlets? I tried those in my home and they work beautifully for me.

There is also a good, natural way that works. I don't know if they are available in Thailand, but if you can find either an Allspice tree or Bay Rum tree, if you take a bunch of leaves, crush them up, and spread them around in corners and closets, they repel mosquitoes as well as providing a wonderful odor in the house.

Is there a strong smell with them? My BF has severe allergies to strong odors.

I bought one of those battery operated bug zappers that looks like a tennis racket. I have fun trying to zap the little blood-sucking devils. You might also consider it your exercise, since it will burn at least a calorie or two!!

The problem for me is I never see the little buggers until they have bitten me.

There is another consideration.

Daily doses of B-complex vitamin will make you unpalatable to most mosquitoes.

Vitamin supplements will often repel mosquitos.

Plus, I found that once I got a cat the mosquitos went away.

Not sure if she ate them or if litter box smells repel the buggers.

This is from Univ. of Florida website:

Will Garlic, Bananas, Or Vitamin-B Repel Mosquitoes?

There is no scientific evidence that eating garlic, vitamins, onions, or any other food will make a person repellent to mosquitoes. The attractant level of each individual to biting arthropods is based on a complex interaction of many chemical and visual signals. Certain foods in certain individuals may effect their individual attractiveness to biting arthropods, for better or for worse.

I'd rather the vitamin B for myself since it tends to dull hangovers.

Well, that's it then. Get some Vitamin B complex . . . and feed it to the cat.

Best cure (prevention) for a hangover is not getting drunk. LOL

As a gay American watching my country getting slowly taken over by Jesus freaks and people who think that sperm is magically designed only for pure white woman wombs, I reserve the rigth to drink early and often.
