Guest RfromKC Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I don't know...maybe a few others like myself who are jonesing for their daily dose of Daddy's forum will check in here at BoyToy? Anyway I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed to find some of the same negativity here as on the aforementioned site. I guess any open forum must have its share?RFKC Quote

RFKC Hello RfromKC, Just a simple observation, websites reflect REAL LIFE. Not everything in REAL LIFE is good or positive. There are bad and negative things too. So, as much as one may think that participating in a website is a kind of "escapism", it is NOT. You will find the same balance of Pro and Con and the same mix of people and personalities. And I am fine with that, in fact I prefer that, since is shows a sense of Realism. Not every person is kind, polite or politically correct, but all I can ask from people is that they be "who they are", and then I decide to either "take it or leave it".... The other site never had that sort of Dynamic. If you said something that wasnt "popular" with the members, or favored by the Mods, you were either Banned from the site, or your comment or thread locked or deleted. What the hell is that ? Censorship at its worst ! Sorry you are disappointed by some of the behavior here, but let's face it, at least it's REAL and honest ! Quote
Guest StevenDraker Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 ... there should have been a contingency plan in place. Poor planning on his part. There was a plan and this is not due to poor planning. I've got news about what caused the crash of both servers, but I prefer to let the administrators talk about it. The site will be back, folks. It's a matter of time. Quote

I've got news about what caused the crash of both servers, but I prefer to let the administrators talk about it. Are you kidding? The site went down and his back up server is also down. You don't see that as poor planning? It is a bit more than poor planing and verges on incompetence. You know what cause the issue can't tell? This isn't top secret stuff. It is a website for escorts. TotallyOz Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 You know what cause the issue can't tell? This isn't top secret stuff. Steven knows. It is top secret. He could tell you, but then he would have to kill you. AdamSmith 1 Quote
Members JKane Posted July 31, 2014 Members Posted July 31, 2014 From daddy's own posts, it sounds as if he physically owns and operates his server hardware. If I'm not mistaken, he spoke of needing to buy a new server to replace the one that died. That was my understanding as well. And if he'd outsourced some of it, who knows, maybe the vendor would just up and steal all his content one day, one has to be careful about that, as Daddy knows... AdamSmith and TotallyOz 2 Quote
AdamSmith Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Steven knows. It is top secret. He could tell you, but then he would have to kill you. "I'll tell you. You're young, but you're one of us, and I'm one of us, so I'll tell you. Everything. Now, say someone's one of us. . . but he's also—you know—you can tell, right?" "He's not—one of us," I said. "Right! You can tell! But sometimes—you can't tell. You think someone's one of us, but they got to him and then he wasn't any more—and then we got to him, and he was—but he still has to look like he isn't, that is, like he only looks like he is! But they get wise to him and—now he isn't again, but he has to look like he isn't—or we'll get wise—and that's a triple!" So sorry. I am not sure why anyone would want to keep their own server these days. Most companies are moving to "cloud" servers. I lease servers but the cloud scares me as it is not something I know. Daddy is a bit older than me and he might feel the same way about having his server in another location not in his personal control. We all come to the table with different needs and preferences and I don't know Daddy's. I do know I would never trust my own sites not have a backup in a different location than the main server. I am sure that after this experience, he will most likely change things a bit. And, JKane, you are a sly one. AdamSmith 1 Quote

Members lookin Posted July 31, 2014 Members Posted July 31, 2014 Worth remembering, I think, that Daddy's still fighting an illness that could have done him in. If he takes it easy and focuses on his health instead of his website for a little while longer, we should all be OK. As long as we continue to enjoy OZ's hospitality and try to keep ourselves entertained. When I find I'm a gay who's gray and lonely I just chuck up my chin and grin and say.... TotallyOz Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Daddy's servers are actually in Seattle, and he lives in Las Vegas. Thanks. CharliePS. I was only saying that, according to others, he owns his own servers as opposed to paying a monthly fee for them. If that is the case, when issues happen, unless he has arrangements with the hosting company, he has to fix them on his own. Most companies do not do maintenance on other people's servers. This is not about Daddy. But, this is for anyone who has a website and wishes to host anywhere for anything whether business or private: Do not use your own servers. Rent them. Lease them. And, do so from a company that has outstanding tech support. I have had thousands of issues over the years and without a good tech support staff, I would have been dead in the water. This is no slam on Daddy or anyone else. It is simple business advice. This site is hosted in a place that is expensive and has great support staff. I have other Word Press sites that are hosted at GoDaddy or BlueHost or others and there is no comparison with regard to the level of support. When you have so many choices as we all do, choose the one that best takes care of you in the end. I often tell my family that if I get sick that I want to be transported to Thailand for surgery, recovery or my death bed. Why? The level of care is far superior to anything out there and I love being taken care of. The same is true with hosting. I want a company that takes care of issues as fast as possible. That does not mean things still cannot get fucked up really fast. They can. But, you can only prepare so much. I did not know where Daddy hosts. Who hosts his sites. If he owns his sites or anything else. And, honestly, I really don't care. But, I think when sites go down for days at time, that we all must look at the situation and say to ourselves, "why did this happen and how could be be resolved?" Why you ask? These are Daddy's sites you say. Yes, I know. But, the sites rely on content that is given by others and those others are your shareholders and they deserve to be in the loop. That is just my opinion and I know that opinions are like assholes and everyone has them. But, that is mine. Quote
Guest StevenDraker Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Steven knows. It is top secret. It is NOT top secret. As I mentioned in my earlier post I prefer to let the administrators/owner handle the issue and make any communications. What was shared with me was in a private conversation and I prefer not to post private conversations in a public forum. Fair? I just wanted to let the Esteemed Gentlemen, Members, Posters and other Lurkers know that the site is not dead and it will be back in the air. Quote
TotallyOz Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 It is NOT top secret. Great. Is it a Dirty Little Secret? Or, at least a pretty little secret? I am only teasing. I respect you keeping private what others tell you in private. I think it is just the two of us on this thread. So, please don't tell anyone that I am actually a big bottom who loves to wear diapers and be spanked while on a carousel. AdamSmith 1 Quote

Members axiom2001 Posted July 31, 2014 Members Posted July 31, 2014 I find many of these posts NOT to be in keeping with the intent or in the spirit of the initial thread! If you [personally] have or have had problems with "Daddy" and/or deej or any other individuals connected to http://www.daddysreviews.com, why not keep it to yourselves and MOVE On! Do you consider yourselves "mature, older adults?" Why the bitchiness [in words] and the disrespectful visuals, etc.? Why the personal attacks? What has been gained or accomplished? Does the manner in which you've responded here make you a better person? It certainly has NOT enhanced or answered the initial query which was posted! I found those postings to be tasteless and disrespectful! So before posting all of that unnecessary "shit" on the originator's thread, please rethink and let by gones be by gones. Go to "the other site" as some of you refer or NOT! If one cannot cite something that is UPLIFTING and Beneficial, then why ruin another's thread? [The thread did NOT warrant a lot of negative discourse or quasi satire!] ...WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION that this SITE would be DEVOID of all of the negativity that at times has existed at http://www.daddysreviews.com, a site which I've gone to since 1998 or '99. [i am glad that I have not been involved in all of that tit- for- tat silliness and bitchiness ever! Quote

TotallyOz Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I honestly thought this tread was very kind in its treatment of the issues Daddy is having. I did see a few posts which pushed the boundaries but they were only a few. There were many posts which were silly and meant to be funny and I see no issue with those at all. This thread has gotten over 10 Reports and requests for me to close it based on: "we should not allow discussion of the other site here." That is absurd. As I have said, few threads here are ever deleted and they have to be over the top for anyone to delete them. This one does not broach that threshold yet. I realize that some see any discussion of Daddy as a negative discussion as he does not have his supporters here to blow sunshine up our ass. However, this thread is open. Blow sunshine away. I have praised Daddy in the past and I wish him well during his hospital stay and his server issues. I do find it all slightly comical that no one should be allowed to talk about it though. And, if others did not roll on the floor laughing at the meat grinder photo, you may need to have your funny bone checked. AdamSmith and mvan1 2 Quote
