TotallyOz Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I placed an order with BodyBuilding.com for some protein bars. The order was over 500 USD. They declined to take the order as the address was in Thailand and they said they get too many fraudulent orders from here. They said they would ship if I did a direct deposit into their bank or Western Union them the money. They will not ship to this country any other way. Amazon.com limits what it ships here. Do you find it hard to get companies online to ship here? Quote
Guest Taschizzie Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 The problem isn't the shipping, it's the fraud. One of my credit card providers will not authorize charges from some countries without speaking to me directly to be sure that it is, in fact, an authorized transaction. This company targets high net worth individuals and, as a consequence, has an extraordinarily high limit policy which is normally in the mid 6 figure range. As a result, fraudulant use can cost them many thousnds of dollars so they are extremely attentive to potential problems. I quote... "For your protection be extra cautious when using your Card in Brazil, Russia, Malaysia, and Thailand where high levels of card fraud exist." Quote
Gaybutton Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Also, if they do ship it, make sure it's done in a way that delivery is guaranteed, such as FedEx. Otherwise, there's a good chance the shipment will be stolen. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I have had several shipments delivered to me without any problem, including Amazon. One time I did get a notice from Amazon that a particular DVD could not be shipped here, but others have been. I don't know what determines what can and cannot be shipped here. Quote
Guest Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I find that Amazon ships some things here and other things they do not. When I do place an order with them, it is delivered fast and it is not cheap. But, having gone through customs hell this week with Federal Express, I will have to find a more intelligent way to get things into the country. I had some protein bars shipped over and I did pay the duty on them but they were held in Bangkok for FDA approval. Finally, released, it cost me a pretty good amount. Anyone know the secret to having food shipped in to avoid the hold in customs? I ship legal items and all from known outlets. This time, I had some Zone Perfect bars delivered. When I finally get the final cost together, Ill update the thread on the total cost. Quote
