Members Lucky Posted November 30, 2013 Members Posted November 30, 2013 Was it not enough that a Yale University professor who mysteriously died in jail has now been connected to male prostitution? Samuel See, 34, died in custody. He had been described as "brilliant" and "a rising star" in academia. Yet authorities now discover that he advertised on at least 4 sites as a male prostitute. Not common with Yale professors as far as I know! Ryan Cochran Escort Services appears to me to be See's own company. See had been arrested Sunday morning for allegedly violating a restraining order in connection with his husband. More details on the story can be found here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2515956/Yale-University-professor-Samuel-See-34-dead-prison-online-profile-male-escort.html (I used a different link after it was noted that my original link was in error. The new link gives a different perspective to the story, and suggests that the prof did NOT kill himself in jail!) Guest NCBored Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Here's a link to the story (the OP link is for a different story.) I guess the morale is academics are people (with problems) too? I suspect younger professors make less than many of us think - perhaps he had large student loans, too. I notice on his escort site that his rates were $300 (which seemed a bit high to me) and he preferred to bareback (tho it doesn'y specify whether he was top or bottom). Sad! Quote
Members Lucky Posted November 30, 2013 Author Members Posted November 30, 2013 Thanks for correcting that link. I used the Louisville story yesterday. Multiple stories can be found at Google on the topic: https://www.google.com/search?q=Ryan+Cochran+escort&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a flipao 1 Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Lucky the link you provided took me to a different story on a gay couple who got arrested in KY. I don't know why can you double check? Quote

Some escorts just like the business. I have met some. Sure it is easy money mostly but some guys like to travel and meet people and have their time be their own. Some of the very best IMO are those for which the business transcends a job to be an ongoing life experience. I think that is the way the really good ones last in the business. I suggest a present day example is Steven Draker. Quote

It is more likely to be the case with the more established escorts, those for whom it is a profession, I think. But in this case, it seems a risky sideline - although the risk might enhance the appeal for some personalities. Quote
Members TownsendPLocke Posted December 1, 2013 Members Posted December 1, 2013 I have been in touch with some friends who knew the deceased. Brilliant but troubled-someone you " gave a lot of room to" seems to be their consensus .The sex stuff seems to be more of a mental fixation/fantasy than a financial necessity A real pity that he did not get the help he so obviously needed.
