Samuel See, 34, died in custody. He had been described as "brilliant" and "a rising star" in academia. Yet authorities now discover that he advertised on at least 4 sites as a male prostitute. Not common with Yale professors as far as I know! Ryan Cochran Escort Services appears to me to be See's own company. See had been arrested Sunday morning for allegedly violating a restraining order in connection with his husband. I guess the morale is academics are people (with problems) too? I suspect younger professors make less than many of us think - perhaps he had large student loans, too. Some of the very best IMO are those for which the business transcends a job to be an ongoing life experience. I think that is the way the really good ones last in the business. It is more likely to be the case with the more established escorts, those for whom it is a profession, I think.
