Members MsGuy Posted November 19, 2013 Members Posted November 19, 2013 If Google doesn't want to go to the expense of rephotographing the area, I would think it would a simple thing for them simply to blank out the boy's body from the picture. Quote
Members lookin Posted November 19, 2013 Members Posted November 19, 2013 First they have to find out what server it's on. The article FourAces linked was interesting. Sounds like the Germans got Google to agree to blank out the houses of all the folks who requested it. AdamSmith 1 Quote
Members MsGuy Posted November 19, 2013 Members Posted November 19, 2013 Lookin, are you trying to get me to believe that Google can find 7,960,000 pages for my search for "hallelujah" in 0.19 seconds, but it can't figure out where it put that photograph? Seriously, I may not know much about this tech stuff but even I ain't gonna buy into that! I mean, dude, really, they must have had to locate it at least 200,000 times just since that article went viral. Quote
Members MsGuy Posted November 19, 2013 Members Posted November 19, 2013 Apparently Google found it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25000747 Quote
Members lookin Posted November 19, 2013 Members Posted November 19, 2013 From FourAces' article: McClendon said replacing the image will take about eight days and that Google has spoken to the Barrera family "to let them know we're working hard on the update." From MsGuy's article: It said replacing the image could take eight days. . . . Google Maps vice-president Brian McClendon said: "Since the media first contacted us about the image, we've been looking at different technical solutions. Perhaps they need the extra week for the blur-filter to kick in. Quote
