Is This A Reliable Statistic?

"Most members ever online in one day was 90, last accomplished on 14 Oct 2013"

Yesterday was a banner day for boytoy.com, yet there was no hullabaloo over it. We set a record!

Isn't that wonderful? Lots of folks coming here to read EXPAT and hitoallusa and tomcal and lurkerspeaks and, well, YOU! So we should be at least happy if not proud.

Unless. Yes, unless the statistic is not reliable. I say that because since the site upgrade, when I come to the forums I am already signed in, even though I signed out when I left my last visit.

So does the above statistic reflect people who are actually here, or people who are signed in but have no idea that they are? Inquiring minds want to know!

What difference does it really make ? I am once again stumped at the point you are trying so hard to make. The only people that should care about those statistics are the owner/moderators. Members should just come, read, participate or not, take what they want or need for the threads and move on. Why should We care about numbers ? Its not as if this is an interactive, REAL TIME chat room.

BAFFLING !

Not that I know anything about all this Geek shit but I would venture that the new software leaves some sort of cookie on your PC so it knows you when you come back.

Of course I'm willing to entertain alternative explanations:

When I leave the site, I never do anything to sign out, but I have to log in again when I return, so I assume I am not counted as here when I'm not.

I am all in on this and want it fully investigated!

Adam, glad to know we can count on you. Nothing sinister is expected to be found, however. It could just be a simple matter of me having given my password out to too many people!

Is this a reliable quote? Adam never said that!

Or it could be that Oz team of staff put up a bunch of posts on gay city travels and maybe that triggered a lot of people on at once. I envision a hundred thai elves working on this website in the background.

I love the stats. Thanks for sharing. Those numbers are members online and logged into the site in one day. There are a lot of visitors each day that check things out but don't log in. I am glad to see the logged in numbers increasing.

The Thai BF has been so helpful on this trip. He really has saved me so much time. I am trying to get as much of this done as I can before I go to India for 5 weeks. I'll miss him a lot but he is constantly asking me, you need anything for me today? I love it!

Plus, he works in the nude. (jk)

One, anyway.

Make that two!

I would hope that the number of member visitors to the forums s is increasing - if not, the forums will wither away through attrition.

Based on some sites I've worked with in a corporate setting, the statistic Lucky refers to likely captures the number of unique member visitors per day. Like Lucky, sometimes when I come here, I'm already logged in, but hopefully there's a limit on how long that log in lasts. IMO, it shouldn't last until the next day.

I log out every time I leave and don't recall ever being logged in when I return. Is someone trying to tell me something?

It just sunk in on me! Five Weeks in India? By yourself? How adventurous. Given your health problems in Cambodia, be extra careful in India. I am jealous!

I learned from my last trip in India and being the largest consumer of Imodium, that I'll only eat at the hotel 99 percent of the time. LOL

Oz, dear boy, safe eating is like safe sex...it's got to be 100% of the time, so keep both the rubbers and the bottled water handy.

LOL What if I get wasted and too fucked up to know what I am doing? Do I get a pass on eating the curry?
