New York Deli at Major

I and an American bagel-lover tried their bagels on Silom and found they appeared to be made of plain bread. The best I have found so far are at Villa Supermarket (Sukumvit soi 39, soi 11 and Behind Bangkok Bank HO on Silom) for around Bht50 for 4...I like them but maybe an expert may find them not authentic...just a guess.

Those bagels are made by Continental Bakery. They may not be the same quality as you will find in mid-town Manhattan, but considering what is available in Thailand they're pretty good. Villa Market also carries frozen Lender's Bagels.

I love my bagels as well. The bagel shop around the corner from my place in NYC has the best bagels on earth and it is one of the few foods I actually crave. Hard to find low fat cream cheese outside of the states but, I still love the bagels. :)

I tried New York Deli once and it is no more a New York Deli than Taco bell is Mexican. I won't go back.

For bagels my vote goes to Schimmel's on Houston and Ess A Bagel on 21st and 1st.

For croissants, check out Claude's on W4th between 6th and 7th.

Getting just a tad homesick, but think I'll stay in Pattaya. :D

Ditto - for me it was a big disappointment.

I am sure that I can not find a knish here in Pattaya, but has anyone found a good pastrami and rye sandwich?

I've found the coffee and bagels at Au Bon Pain not too bad.

Good bagels with cream cheese and lox at the Schloss Cafe/Art Bar on the north side of the Soi Buakhao Tuesday/Friday market not far from Pattaya Tai. The place specializes in smoked fish.

The easiest way to get there is to stand in front of the Friendship Market. Cross the street and follow the soi into the "square." It can be a little difficult to find the first time, but it's there . . .
