TotallyOz Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Well, sorry, I am kidding on that one. Just wanted to give a nod to my friend Ear Wig and let me know he is still loved. As for Sunee, I am sure that you veterans have heard this over and over again, and it has never come to fruition. But, having visited Pattaya and spent time in Phuket, most that I talk to outside of the Sunee area say it is on its last leg. It is at the end of its heyday. I met several in Pattaya show say they will no longer go there and many others who say that they will not support any businesses related to the bars or the owners there. I am sure many of you have lived through the roller coaster ride before. Is this the beginning of the end? Will be bars that are there be able to sell and get their investment back? Are others willing to open up a bar where so much controversy exists? I cannot imagine that any of the bars are making good money, with the exception of bars like Ouds or Come In bar and maybe Jimm Jimmy James. Perhaps I am dead wrong in this and that there is great money to be made there. I just don't see it. What am I missing? Quote
Guest Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Perhaps not the end I guess. I was around last night and went to the recently reopened Kboys (I think now called Nice Boys). It has tons of guys on stage and plenty of Pattaya distinguished citizens in the audience. The eyes were oogling at the massive numbers of guys on stage. The new owner/manager brought over a nice group of guys and I'm sure will be a success. But, I did notice walking up the Soi that there were a number of businesses for sale. Directly opposite Crazy Dragon, the apartments are for sale, the former beer bar is also for sale and a few other businesses are for sale. That is only on that one Soi with Crazy Dragon. On the Soi with Memories, there are dead areas there as well. Hopefully, the newly opened Oud's Place will bring some much needed life into that Soi. I will say, that the other bars I went to had very few customers. BUT, having just returned back from Phuket, there were even fewer customers in those bars. So, perhaps it is all relative. As I get ready to leave the good town of Pattaya, I hate I missed out on seeing one of its finer citizens as he was away teaching some Thais how to perfect their English skills. Perhaps next time around, I'll be able to see old friends and meet new ones. To the rest of you, have a great Summer in Pattaya and all of Thailand! Cheers! Quote

It is called low season and happens every year around this time. Chiang Mai and Bangkok also experience a low season. Every year the bar owners say this is the worst low season they have experienced. Maybe it is a year on year decline or maybe not. Some of the bars that are empty still look and offer the same as they did 5 or 10 years ago, even the boys and the music are the same. A well run bar, with polite and well controlled boys, a clean, maintained and comfortable environment will always do well. A bar with no dubiety about the age of the boys and a bar that has set standards for the behaviour of the boys whether they are on the payroll or freelancers will attract the valued customer. That is why Come-in and Oud's bar are popular. That is why Boyz Town Bars are generally popular. The sex show bars of Sunee rely on the most part on boys who are educated to a very low level and have low esteem. Boys who behave like sheep, thus Sunee sees gang fights from these barworkers. Many boys will be immature and even under-age. I don't know what type of cutomer they attract but not enough to sustain most of them over the long-term. Quote

Guest Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 For a minute I thought the true identity of GT and LMTU et al was the same. Yes, we all do love ( to hate) him. LOL. He is more handsome and skinnier than I am. I am less talkative and much more flamboyant than he is. He misspells many words and I use spell check. He wears nice clothes and I wear shorts from JJ Market that cost me 99 baht. He often has high-end whisky in his hands and I have a diet coke. He has an obsessive group of falangs that dine on his every written word on the Internet, print it out, document it, file it, catalog it, discuss it and digest it adnauseum (sp). No one gives a shit about what I write. But, we both have impeccable taste in sexy Thai guys, so I can see where you may confuse us. Quote
