Members Lucky Posted October 2, 2013 Members Posted October 2, 2013 Lots of people will die today, many of whom actually helped further gay rights. Clancy was nowhere for us. Quote
AdamSmith Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I don't see the relevance of this to a gay message board. By this criterion, a majority of my posts here over 7+ years should be deleted. If something is of enough interest that someone is moved to post about it, that's enough for me. In fact the breadth and variety of subject matter here is a strength and appeal of the forum, as I experience it. RA1 and wayout 2 Quote

Members RA1 Posted October 2, 2013 Members Posted October 2, 2013 Personally I enjoyed Tom Clancy's books but it would be surprising if I did not considering my background, would it not? Like everyone else, I agreed with some of his politics and not with other aspects. There are a lot of German heritage folks in the US and one thing that I agree with about Germans is their interest in investigating things to the nth degree. TC certainly did this and, no doubt, satisfied a lot of similar minded readers. As someone familiar with aviation, I sometimes found errors in what TC wrote but I don't think I have ever read a book without errors. Movies seem to take the greatest "liberties" in this regard which is one reason I seldom go to the movies. Great acting is great acting but I can see that with just any escort. Being technically correct is VERY difficult and very seldom even approached. Best regards, RA1 AdamSmith 1 Quote
