He was last active on August 2d. We've heard from Axiom and Adam both since then!

Very mysterious. Are BoyToy forum posters being rubbed out?

Seriously, hope they are all fine. Looking forward to hearing from the missing 4 soon.

I miss everyone but OTOH I don't mind being rubbed. ^_^

No interest in my novel. Well, that's okay. The e-book might have done well.

Bot how about a novel where just a handful of people try to keep a message board afloat?

Can a board succeed if most participate only rarely?

Good question....... The participation on this board is getting less & less with each passing week.

I sometimes wonder if it is worth while checking in,

I'm grateful to the handful of posters who make the effort to keep the message board afloat. The forum has lasted for a pretty long time, but new posters would certainly be welcome.

This forum reminds me of a small business which isn't hiring: the same group of employees gathers around the water cooler each day to converse, even if there isn't much to say, and worry about those who didn't show up to work. The "other site," on the other hand, has a very large base of members who contribute at least occasionally, and regularly attracts enthusiastic new members--newbies often are the most prolific contributors. (I will admit the cavil that some "newbies" are really oldies with new handles.)

Almost all the posters here started on the old Hooboy/Daddy's site, and are refugees from there, or are old-timers there who moonlight here. Newcomers to escort forums never seem to start here, despite Oz's frequent attempts to make this site attractive. Some of that may be due to a phenomenon of the Internet, that the first site to do something completely new often seems to permanently dominate that field, unlike traditional product competition, where a new competitor who significantly improves the product or offers it at a better price wrests the business away from the initial producer. (Is Daddy's the equivalent of google or facebook? Maybe Daddy should use a small d.)

The participation of escorts is instructive. The escorts who choose to post in forums are all at Daddy's, not here, which indicates that they believe that is where the action is. If you check Rentboy (another fairly dominant site), you will find that many advertisers have a "personal website" link, which takes you not to a personal website at all, but to their reviews on Daddy's. I would bet that many clients, especially newcomers to hiring, get introduced to Daddy's site that way, and that is where they stay if they are interested in participating in a forum.

I don't know how to get more participation here, but I don't think it will happen just by encouraging those who are already here.

Well said, Charlie. It's true that Oz has worked hard to create a great site. Now we have the city guides as well to attract people. Let's hope that some of them hang around for the message board. If they do, it will be because the lot of us have created something of interest for them. Oz can only do so much.

As has oft been said, there is no free lunch. Yes, it would be nice to have more posters who have something to say (or not) and certainly escorts would be welcome to put their two cents into the mix, but it seems we have largely avoided contentious acrimony herein and that, in particular, seems to be attractive to some on other sites. That does not mean we have to be milquetoasts but perhaps only a little more civil than some others seem to be.

OTOH, I find it pretty remarkable that a group such as this with only one for sure known interest seem to find quite a few things to post about which turn out to be interesting to others. Few posts will have large interest to everyone but there seems to be something for almost everyone. ^_^

Well, if you click my name above and then 'Posts' you'll notice that I've shared some of my thoughts with you twice today - thrice, counting this one. You might also want to double-check your 'ignore' list just to see if you'd be willing to let some of us back inside the rope again.

PS: I'll also add that I miss FourAces. It's not easy becoming attached to a favorite poster who may up and disappear for a spell. I was sure happy to see MsGuy come back after a few months away, and AdamSmith after a few days. And there's a fatted calf waiting for FourAces when he next stops in. sLo_BigBearHug.gif

Lookin, the boys that Oz has workin in the back room reported a noticeable fall-off in posting for your screen name. Should you think that they are wrong, well, we can audit your account to be sure. The cost of the audit is only $49.95, and can be billed to your credit card in 4 easy payments of $15, which would include interest and special handling fees. However, if you have been audited already this year, there is a special fee of $75 to make sure that duplication of efforts is not detrimental to your standing in the community. The nice thing is that you can apply for a fee waiver. Just show up any day between 9 and 5 at the Bangkok office and ask for the waiver. Be sure that Oz is in the office that day, as only he can grant the waiver.

Actually, the thought of somebody sitting around counting my posts would make me a bit less likely to post, rather than more. Doesn't get to the level of creepy, perhaps, not with the NSA's protrusive peeping. But still.

Maybe better to just let folks drift in and post as the spirit moves. 0011.gif

Has anyone else ever thought about numbers as they occur and the thought of what might have happened that year? This can be applied to almost anything to include posts or miles on a car or hours flown, etc. 1917 being an example of not only the end of WWI but also the year my father was born and no doubt several other significant (to someone) events. Not to neglect lookin's number of posts.

Obviously this can be carried to an extreme or silliness but if one is not otherwise engaged, one can reflect, can one not?

"ONE" can reflect? There you go with the numbers again. We can all reflect, so the number is higher than one, is it not?

Are you more than one? All this time I thought you had gone on a weight reduction diet and succeeded.

Otherwise, perhaps you hold the proxy for several?

Except that 1917 was the beginning of WWI for the USA. The war ended in 1918, the number of lookin's next post.

Ah spoiler alert. I was hoping to wait until retirement to catch up and find out what happened! :-)
