Gaybutton Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I won't be surprised at all if my question sparks more controversy than most questions that appear on this board, but here goes: I'm not much of a pizza eater, but on the rare occasions when I want some pizza I'd at least like it to be a good one. I've never found a really good pizza in Pattaya. Most I've tried have ranged from barely mediocre to just terrible. So, that's my question . . . Where's the best pizza in Pattaya? Quote
PattayaMale Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I am waiting anxiously for the answer to GB's question. I have been to several places and have not found one I enjoy. I drove by a new one opening on 3rd Rd close to Pattaya Tai and will try it soon. Quote
Guest zzrichard Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Don't know the best, but the worse... one day when I first moved here I was wondering if I could order a pizza over the phone giving my address correctly in Thai. Unfortunately I was successful. The pizza I received from NICK THE PIZZA had a crust so thin you would need a lazor micrometer to measure its thickness. As I recall, the sauce and toppings were not the finest either. Hopefully it has gotten better. Quote
Guest TOQ Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Amazing as it sounds, you might try Linda's. It on the road to Jomtien on the left hand side just about at the entrance to Jomtien Plaza. Large green signs.. Ive had maybe four pizzas there. They are thick crust and just enough sauce to hold the toppings on but not so much that it drips from your hand.. 180B + range john Quote
Guest richsilver Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Try Gian's in the same building as News Cafe. I've had pizza there twice and have introduced a number of friends. I think we all agree it's the best pizza we've had in Pattaya. It's also a very pleasant atmosphere with great service. That said, it ain't the pizza I used to get in San Francisco! Quote

Gaybutton Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 I think I am looking for the one like San Francisco Believe it or not, the best I've ever had in my life was in, of all places, Buenos Aires, Argentina. I can't imagine better pizza anywhere. This evening a friend told me you can get excellent pizza at the Ciao Italian restaurant. You'll find it on Tappraya Road, on the way to the beach, right next to Mike's Mexican Restaurant. The Italian food there is excellent and very reasonably priced. The owner is Italian and he knows what he's doing. It never even occurred to me that they have pizza there. So between that, the recommendation for Linda's, and the recommendation for Gian's, now we're starting to get someplace. Quote

I agree with Rich on this. I love Gian's. I use to get the Pizza at the little Pizza place in Sunee but I think they are now closed. It was good and tasty but certainly not the best in Pattaya as I have had many that were better. As for the best ever, there is a Pizza place in NYC, right off of 9th Avenue and 42nd Street that I fell in love with. I use to drive there on my way down from Boston to Florida and I would made a trip into NYC just for a few slices of the Pizza. I wonder if Niddy should open up a Pizza joint? We can always use a place that has the best Pizza in Pattaya. Quote

When I lived in NYC in the 60's we used to love the pizza at Rocky Lee's Chu Chu Bianco on Third Avenue. It was the standard by which I have judged pizzas ever since. It was rumored that Frank Sinatra used to dine there, but who knows? Quote
Gaybutton Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 That's all just fine. Now we know where to go if we happen to be in New York or San Francisco. The intent of this thread was to discover whether anything similar can be found in Pattaya. Are there no more recommendations? Quote
Guest Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 You are confused. John's, in the Village, has the best pizza. 9th Avenue and 42nd Street has the best hustlers. Damm. I guess the studies about memory loss and Xanex are true. I also don't think the Pizza at Pan Pan is bad. I have had it many times and enjoyed it. In Bangkok, there is a Pizza place down the road for the boy bars that has great pizza. I can't remember the name but will look back at the old threads as I think I did a review of it a while back. Guest zzrichard Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 This Pizza thread was really annoying me tonight as it invoked a "pizza fix" that had to be taken care of. I am not a food critic at all and the last great pizza I remember having was way back when I was a kid in Brooklyn New York. Back then in the late 50's a slice cost 15 cents and they were just introducing Sicilian style. Anyway, I used "Door 2 Door" and ordered a "4 Formaggi" from Valentino's. It was VERY GOOD. In fact, the two slices I was saving for breakfast (nothing beats breakast like cold pizza) are already gone. The cheeses were: Mozzarella, Emmenthal, Gorgonzola & Parmesan Cheese. It was presented on a nice lightly spiced tomatoe sauce. It was a 12" pie and at 260 baht it comes out to about $1.40 a slice, but considering the cost of cheese in Thailand, I think it was a bargain. Using D2D, fyi was a pleasant experience and the operator did not laugh too much at my Thai pronunciation of my address. The food came hot and in about 20 minutes. Here is their website: http://www.valentinopattaya.com/ Quote
PattayaMale Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 On Third Rd going North from Pattaya Tai about 1 long block is a new pizza place called Koh Lanta Pizza. It has a wood fired oven in which they bake their pizzas. For the month of June they are promoting 50% on their pizzas. (It is right next to Kombat gym) So if you want to try it you can get an 8" for about 75 - 110 baht. You can eat there or take away. It is comfortable inside. They also have salads, spaghetti (70 - 130 baht) and calzone. I tried it and thought it was ok....my Thai friend thought it was good. It still doesn't meet the taste I am looking for. But it is another choice. tel: 08-0232-4888 Quote
Guest TomUK Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 During my last visit to Pattaya I fancied eating a pizza but didn't want to eat the usual muck you get served in all the chain restaurants. I noticed an Italien restaurant in walking distance from my hotel and thought I give it a try, and I am glad I did. The restaurant is the Trattoria Pizzeria Toscana on Beach Road shortly past Soi 6. They have a beautiful garden in front of the restaurant and I enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace looking out over the garden and across the road over the sea and watching the world go by. I had a ham, mushroom and artichoke pizza with a thin base. It was a proper Italien pizza and the only negative point was that it was a little bit too big and did not leave enough room for dessert. Having had a bowl of green salad and some bruscetta as a starter didn't help either. On my second visit I decided to try some pasta and had spaghetti in tomato sauce which was also rather delicous. Since I liked it so much on my first visit I ordered bruscetta and green salad again. The green salad came with a simple vinaigrette and was refreshingly non spicy. When in Thailand I usually eat Thai food, but should I happen to be in Pattaya and feel like I could do with some Italien food then the Trattoria Pizzeria Toscana will be my first port of call.
