Guest EXPAT Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Governor Chris Christie did the right thing and signed the bill banning reparative therapy for minors. “Government should tread carefully into this area, and I do so here reluctantly. However, I also believe that on the issues of medical treatment for children we must look to experts in the field to determine the relative risks and rewards. I believe that exposing children to these health risks without clear evidence of benefits that outweigh these serious risks is not appropriate.” So if he believes all that, why doesn't he sign the gay marriage bill? Something tells me that signing this bill was throwing a bone to the moderates of NJ but his advisors have probably said he could never win a national nomination for the GOP if he supports gay marriage. AdamSmith Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Slate has a pretty sharp evisceration of Christie's anti-gay-marriage position: http://mobile.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/jurisprudence/2013/08/chris_christie_s_legal_brief_on_gay_marriage_pure_nonsense.html?original_referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dchris%2Bchristie%2Bgay%2Bmarriage%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari ihpguy 1 Quote
