Guest Khunatm Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 With Jomtien Beach now offering a variety of good restaurants I rarely venture to Central Pattaya. But after reading an advertisement for fresh Norwegian lobster I made the effort to have dinner at Casa Pascal off Second Road and I wasn’t disappointed. If requested, the lobster will be brought to your table before cooking and can be served as an appetizer with apple and celery salad on hazelnut oil, or as a main course, grilled, flamed, sautéed, poached or thermidor. However, if you decide to try the Norwegian lobster I suggest you book because they only fly in SIX live lobsters each Friday. I am fussy about oysters and probably biased as regards their origin, but the French fine de Claire oysters served with garlic bread and condiments were excellent. Mata Hari is also renowned for their oysters kilpatrick and I’m told they also currently have a special on imported oysters, from Europe I think. Both Casa Pascal and Mata Hari are gay friendly. Guest Khunatm Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Are we speaking of oysters on the half shell (raw)? Yes Laurence, raw. And the way they are presented on a stand is quite novel. There is a selection of three condiments including a Thai dressing that I found too spicy, but the others were yummy as was the plain oyster. However, I am still not sure about the garlic toast on the side. Quote
Guest laurence Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I love raw oysters but am not trustful of the local variety. My bf is now turned onto them but gunks them up with all sorts of spicy condiments which, for me, cloaks the true flavor. Thanks for info Khunatm. Oh, does Khunatm = Khun ATM? Quote
Gaybutton Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I love raw oysters but am not trustful of the local variety. The local oysters are ok, and maybe Khunatm's French oysters are great, but until you've had Apalachee Bay oysters from the Gulf coast of Florida, you haven't had oysters. Quote
Guest Khunatm Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Thanks for info Khunatm. Oh, does Khunatm = Khun ATM? Yes laurence, it is Khun ATM. We have a real joker at work, which I find uncharacteristic amongst most Thai’s. His name is Manit and many farang in Pattaya know him mainly for his achievements on the soccer field, especially after an horrific motor bike accident and his doctor telling him he would never play sport again. When ever Nit was short of money he would walk behind me as I sat at my desk and press on my shoulders as if he was pressing numbers on a key board. Then he would make a sound as if money was being dispensed from his mouth. My colleagues thought it was hilarious and were soon calling me Khun ATM. At the time I was looking for a handle for this forum and decided to use ATM. I have to say I now regret it because unless you know the story it’s not very funny and also bordering on being disrespectful to Thai’s, even if it is accurate. Of course I realize there are probably many others who can relate to similar eexperiences; But I was silly enough to be the first to use the name on this message board and now I'm stuck with it. Quote
