AdamSmith Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Does this give you any hope that your dear Edward will be treated kindly by the U.S. government if he comes back here, as you have suggested he do? Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I hope my Edward is treated kindly if he returns. I don't think he will be able to avoid some jail time if he comes back, unless my Obama offers him a presidential pardon before he leaves the office. I don't think that is likely to happen though. I bet there are people inside the NSA who can bring change to the way they do business. The problem is that people who have power to bring changes usually don't want to do it. It's not because they are bad people but because nobody wants other people to think that what they are doing is wrong. Who can blame them for trying to keep their positions and pay check? Luckily, as you see in the movie, Matrix.. when anomalies (bad practices) accumulate then counter measures arise naturally to cope with them. If it comes to a point that it can't control anomalies anymore then it will collapse eventually. Unlike Greenwald, I'm optimistic and positive. Does this give you any hope that your dear Edward will be treated kindly by the U.S. government if he comes back here, as you have suggested he do? Quote

Guest EXPAT Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I was very surprised by this. I figured they would throw the book at him to make a point. But this is probably the correct verdict. Quote

Members RA1 Posted July 31, 2013 Members Posted July 31, 2013 So, a possible 136 years in the pokey is a lenient sentence? Best regards, RA1 Quote

I must say "it will collapse" is a rather rosy and bloodless-sounding way to describe World War II, the American revolution, the U.S. Civil War, etc. Quote
