TotallyOz Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I have read such mixed reviews of Dan Brown's latest book Inferno. Some love it and other hate it. But, I am a big fan and I felt I owed it to him to read it. I am half way through and so far I really love the story and the writing. Have others read this book yet? What are your thoughts? Quote
Members Lucky Posted July 25, 2013 Members Posted July 25, 2013 I was bored to tears and did not finish it. Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I resisted buying it because his last book was so boring. So I was worried this one might be worse. I'm glad that you are enjoying it. I'm behind about 5 books now. So I'll have to remember it. Quote
TotallyOz Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 His writing is often very dry but I love all the detail and the story. I really enjoyed this book a great deal and loved the ending as well. Quote
Members Lucky Posted July 26, 2013 Members Posted July 26, 2013 The nice thing about books is that we can all have a different opinion on how good it is, and no one gets hurt feelings. After all, it's the clearest case of "just my opinion." Quote

And, my favorite book of all time is Ulysses and many people hate it. AdamSmith 1 Quote

Members Cany10011 Posted July 29, 2013 Members Posted July 29, 2013 I enjoyed Inferno. It was a fast easy read and perfect for lazy summer weekends on fire island. I'm reading Ken Follett's Fall of Giants now and am really enjoying it. It's historical fiction with some social upheavals a la downton abbey thrown into it. Immensely pleasureable. TotallyOz 1 Quote

Members Lucky Posted September 29, 2013 Members Posted September 29, 2013 Here is a rather bitchy negative review of Inferno, and Dan Brown's writing in general:http://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/magazine/dan-brown-inferno-clive-james-da-vinci-code/#.UkhmOT_-uz5 Quote
TotallyOz Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Thanks Lucky. An interesting read on his view of the book. The last paragraph summed it up nicely. Should you read the book. No he says. Will you read the book. Yes, mathematically yes many will. I did and am glad I did. I didn't feel my time was wasted at all. Quote
