Guest zipperzone Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 The New York Times reported today that at a recent auction, Warhol's painting "Four Marilyns" sold for 34 million dollars - which totalled 38.2 millions when the selling & buyers fees are included. And there are people out there with no homes to go to and children who don't know where their next meal is coming from. We live in a sick world. Quote
Members RA1 Posted May 18, 2013 Members Posted May 18, 2013 There are any number of people out there with more money than brains. We need not go into how they got the former or lost the latter. Best regards, RA1 Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I have an original Marilyn Monroe painting too. I wonder if I can get $40 million for it. It's not a Warhol, but mine is much better. Here it is. It was painted by a former go go boy who is now a fantastic artist and a father of 2. Quote
Guest jimboivyo Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 they're not out of their minds. they just have money. that's all. they're successful and want what they want. I don't see anything wrong with that. making people villains because they are successful at what they do is lowly behavior. who are you to judge what someone else spends their money on? Quote
Members RA1 Posted May 18, 2013 Members Posted May 18, 2013 Every citizen who acquired his or her money legally has the right to spend it in any legal way. Any other citizen has the right to have an opinion about whether that money was spent wisely or not. Best regards, RA1 Quote
Guest NCBored Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I agree that the thought of spending that much for a painting seems somewhat less than rational. But what some us spend for an hour or two with escort could feed a family for a week, and an overnight could pay some rents for a month. Quote

For that matter zipper, people may say that a person spending anywhere from $300 - thousands of dollars for an overnighter with an escort to have sex with you if frivolous, ridiculous and self-indulgent when there are homeless, jobless people with no food to eat. Humans pretty much consider THEIR OWN condition, and dont reflect on the plight of others when spending their money. Perhaps some do, and make some donation to charity here and there. How you live your life and spend your money if pretty much a personal and individual thing, and we each get pleasure from diff things. We can judge and point fingers, but what the fuck good does that do anyone ? People with ALOT of money usually are self indulgent because they CAN be, and you best believe that wasnt the last $34 million that individual had in the bank....... Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I'd rather rich people spend their money on art than give it to political organizations who want to keep poor people poor. Quote

Members MsGuy Posted May 18, 2013 Members Posted May 18, 2013 As soon as I cash my $600 million lottery check, I plan to send all our worthy posters on a month long vacation to Tahiti together with the escort(s) of their choice. I'm thinking this expenditure meets any reasonable standard of probity (given the immense number of starving escorts that will be raised from penury). RA1 and lookin 2 Quote

I think the ONLY starving ones are the ones that Frequent a "competing" site ? Why else the need to pimp yourself at semi-annual "meets" with a bunch of old, fat, obnoxious lechers ? (But I hear the chicken fingers they serve are pretty good) However, Generous offer Ms, and I hope you can make Good on it ? Quote

I would like to see Tahiti even without an escort. I think I know a few of those starving escorts but they seem to do it willingly. Best regards, RA1 Quote

A very generous offer, and quite titillating too, even though 'probity' and 'penury' turned out to mean something other than what I first hoped they did. MsGuy and AdamSmith 2 Quote
