TotallyOz Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Either that or I have scared away all the customers in Bangkok. For three days in a row, I have been in many of the bars in Bangkok and was one of very few if not the only customer in them. Tonight, on a Saturday night, we went into 4 of the bars and all were dead. The showtimes had many boys sitting there with no one buying them drinks and tons of empty spaces. I asked a few of the waiters I know and they all said it has been like this all week and that they were very very slow with few customers. Quote
atri1666 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Is it really so hot now? My boyfriend from pattaya told me they have had 38 Celsius. End of may will see myself low season. Quote
fedssocr Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 well, given the reports we have seen on the incredibly high drink prices it may be that a vicious cycle has been created. In addition to it being low season people aren't interested in spending all of their money on drinks. And because there are so few customers I suppose the bars have to raise prices to cover their costs. Of course the rise of the baht may factor in a bit too. When it was 40 to the USD a higher price might not seem so bad, but with it sitting around 31 to the dollar now that's a pretty big difference. since I am not there I don't know for sure, but it seems like this may be a factor.
