Guest rimchair Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 This is one of the most appalling things I have ever read! This man has got to go, clearly he is impaired as he publicly states his inability to be impartial. Plus his level of ignorance is truly phenomenal! For example; The Justice said that when it came to the issue of same-sex marriage he would rely on the Constitution, “which makes no mention of gays whatsoever.”“Remember, when the framers wrote the Constitution, there were no gays in America,” he said. “They didn’t come here until the nineteen-sixties.” WTF!~ was he raised in a cave? Can you believe that this man is a justice on the Supreme Court!Read more: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2013/03/scalia-says-marriage-views-not-affected-by-lifelong-fear-of-gays.html#ixzz2OlMQBfMh It gets even worse when you read about his over-the-top breakdown yesterday during the Prop 8 debate. Don't remember seeing this on the evening news! (Even the vaunted Fox)http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2013/03/scalia-furious-he-has-to-hear-about-gay-couples-all-week.html As a Justice it is time for him & the court to recognize he has some serious problems which make him unable to perform his duties and he needs to retire. Just my thoughts, RimChair Quote

Guest EXPAT Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 How about impeachment? I know it's never been done before but there is a first time for everything. Quote

Members TampaYankee Posted March 28, 2013 Members Posted March 28, 2013 This is why Presidential elections are soooooo important. This is the BIGGER picture. When bitter primary losers huff and puff about not supporting the winner... you know he's going to make a much better appointment than the guy from the other party. As I have said many times, this is the overriding factor in casting a vote if you have skin in the rights game. SOTUS appointments last a lifetime... of the appointed. That is easily twenty, sometimes thirty years. That is a long time for homophobes, racists, and servants of the rich and powerful to influence the Law of the Land. So put petty grievances aside if your primary candidate loses. There's bigger fish to fry. Remember this come next election season. JKane 1 Quote
Guest Hoover42 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 The Borowitz Report from the New Yorker is satire. Although I wouldn't put anything past Scalia. Quote
AdamSmith Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 The Borowitz Report from the New Yorker is satire. Forgive the OP for perhaps not being entirely familiar with the frequently uproariously Swiftianisms of Andy Borowitz. Or, more likely, for pulling all of our legs here. Not altogether without precedent. Quote

caeron Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Instead of shooting up schools, why can't one of the crazies do us all a favor and shoot Scalia? Quote
Members JKane Posted March 28, 2013 Members Posted March 28, 2013 Instead of shooting up schools, why can't one of the crazies do us all a favor and shoot Scalia? Even in jest I think it's horrible to suggest that somebody be murdered for their honest ideological differences, no matter how abhorrent or harmful. As big a troll as he is, he seems to do it either to play devil's advocate or because he actually believes it--as opposed to somebody like Ann Coulter who will say anything to sell another fucking a book or a politician pandering to a despicable base to get re-elected. In Coulter's case I'd be tempted to pull the trigger myself. Not that I'd shed many tears if Scalia and Thomas were in a helicopter crash or something... actively wishing for such a thing is 1) a magical thinking waste of time 2) exactly what many right-wignuts did in praying for liberal justices to die just a few years ago... *don't* be like *them*. caeron Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I won't apologize for wishing enemies of our community dead. These people do real and tangible damage to us, so I have no problem in wishing real and tangible damage on them. I don't view these as "ideological" differences because I think that whitewashes the real cost in blood that these people inflict upon our community. Quote

AdamSmith Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 The OP's commands have magical potency! March 28, 2013 Bitter Scalia Leaves U.S. Posted by Andy Borowitz WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Justice Antonin Scalia dropped a bombshell on the Supreme Court today, announcing his decision to resign from the Court “effective immediately” and leave the United States forever. Calling this week “by far the worst week of my life,” Justice Scalia lashed out at his fellow-Justices and the nation, saying, “I don’t want to live in a sick, sick country that thinks the way this country apparently thinks.” Justice Scalia said that he had considered fleeing to Canada, “but they not only have gay marriage but also national health care, which is almost as evil.” He said the fact that nations around the world recognizing same-sex marriage are “falling like deviant dominoes” would not deter him from leaving the United States: “There are plenty of other countries that still feel the way I do. I’ll move to Iran if I have to.” Throwing off his robe in a dramatic gesture, Justice Scalia reserved his harshest parting shot for his fellow-Justices, screaming, “Damn you! Damn each and every one of you to hell! You call yourself judges? That’s a good one. You’re nothing but animals!” Breathing heavily after his tirade, he turned to Justice Clarence Thomas and said, “Except you, Clarence. Are you coming with me?” Justice Thomas said nothing in reply. http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2013/03/bitter-scalia-leaves-us.html JKane 1 Quote
Members JKane Posted March 29, 2013 Members Posted March 29, 2013 Justice Thomas said nothing in reply. Ha, funniest line! I hope somebody checks he's breathing with a mirror at least weekly, so we'll know when he can be replaced with somebody useful. Quote
