AdamSmith Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Now this definitely belongs in the Politics forum. From politico.com... Friday cocktail: Corpse Reviver (No. 2) By DYLAN BYERS and MACKENZIE WEINGER | 3/8/13 5:00 PM EDT It's always five o'clock somewhere, and sometimes that place happens to be Washington, D.C. Every Friday, starting today, we're asking one member of the media to share a favorite cocktail recipe. This gives journalists, pundits, hacks and flacks a chance to share their personal tastes with our readers, while giving us a chance to post something pertaining neither to media perfidy nor partisanship. Because we could all use a break. Our inaugural recipe comes from Ryan Lizza, The New Yorker’s Washington correspondent and a contributor for CNN: This is one of my favorites from the Savoy Cocktail Book, which is probably the most important recipe book in cocktail history, and certainly the most beautiful. The Savoy lists several "corpse revivers," which were allegedly hangover cures, but the Corpse Reviver # 2 is the only one you'd want to drink. I recommend it for Easter brunch. Corpse Reviver (No. 2):3⁄4 oz Lemon juice3⁄4 oz Lillet Blanc3⁄4 oz Cointreau3⁄4 oz Gin (either Plymouth or a London dry like Beefeater) Shake, strain, & serve up in a cocktail glass rinsed with Absinthe (very important). No garnish. But be careful, according to the Savoy, "Four of these taken in swift succession will unrevive the corpse again." http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/?ml=bl_db Quote
Members RA1 Posted March 10, 2013 Members Posted March 10, 2013 The "problem" with this cocktail recipe is it is OK for a "starter" but NOT a cure for a "real" hangover. If one would triple, at least, the recipe, then one might be on the road for a "cure". Best regards, RA1 AdamSmith 1 Quote
