Did Joan Rivers go too far regarding Adele?

I've never heard of Adam Hill or The Last Leg, but he took issue with Joan Rivers for making fat jokes about Adele on Twitter and with David Letterman. I'm right there with Hill on this subject, because I've long thought that Joan lost the ability to be funny and had gone straight for crude and cruel over the last several years. Warning: NSFW language.

Agree. Likewise her recent Holocaust crack. I would defend to the death her right to speak that way, but not claims that it was funny.

Plenty of her crude deliberately offensive stuff in the past has been hilarious -- frequently dead-on social satire, of the most cuttingly personal kind. She'll be 80 this June. Losing it?

I say get a life. Comedy is about satire. It is pretty obvious to anyone that Adele is a big girl. So what???? If we outlawed comedy of this nature, so many comedians would be out of a career.. Joan has always been on the edge. She pushes boundaries of taste and decorum..She is not afraid to say what so many people think. I say.. "You go Gurl".

Of course you'd have to expect this type of reaction from the British who hold her in such high esteem. I agree, Joan has always been guttural in her jokes and you just have to accept her as she is.

Evidently this is true of the people she insults as well.

Several years ago she had a period when she made fodder of the British Royal Family. I recall her imitating Princess Anne in a very unflattering way by whinging as a horse. She made fun of Prince Charles's looks & ears and had a field day with Camilla's looks as well.

But evidently she is now friendly with all three of them She was even invited to the Charles/Camilla wedding for all to see so the rumours of friendship are probably true.

So... not all subjects of her humour take her too seriously.
