AdamSmith Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Reading some bits on Christopher Hitchens, could not resist passing along this bon mot of his: "If [Falwell] had been given an enema, he could have been buried in a matchbox." lookin 1 Quote
Members RA1 Posted March 2, 2013 Members Posted March 2, 2013 Jerry Falwell had a lot of things going for him. However, I cannot think of one at the moment. I once met him in BNA (Nashville, TN) and was very impressed, unfortunately not favorably. Best regards, RA1 AdamSmith 1 Quote
Guest rimchair Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Well, I concur: "Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them." http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/stupidquotes/a/falwellquotes.htm Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted March 2, 2013 Members Posted March 2, 2013 I think it safe to say that Hitchens had a somewhat acerbic manner. You always knew where he stood. I agreed with him much of the time although on occasion he did get a little too far out there for me. He was fascinating to listen to and a withering debater not for the faint-of-heart opponent. AdamSmith Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 "Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them." Exquisite! So Falwell would recommend prostitutes for underage guys. One could get with that. ...In the quote list you linked to, he also said: "Billy Graham is the chief servant of Satan in America." What a mind. Quote
