Guest rimchair Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Triumph my Legend Dream! RA1, perhaps you would like to revisit all the Carnival ships that have had 'troubles' recently?? From your much trusted news source Fox: Another Carnival cruise ship has reported problems while at sea, becoming the third Carnival ship in less than two months to experience difficulties onboard. MyFoxTampaBay.com reports the Carnival Legend is skipping all of its scheduled stops through the Caribbean and is heading back to the port of Tampa to arrive on Sunday as scheduled, moving at only 14 miles per hour. The Legend is the latest in a series of problem cruises for Carnival. The company announced Thursday passengers aboard the Carnival Dream will be flown home after the ship experienced problems with its on-board generator while docked in St. Maarten. A month ago, passengers on the Carnival Triumph spent five days in the Gulf of Mexico without power or working toilets. Members RA1 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Members Posted March 17, 2013 Perhaps you would like to think about your negative attitude? It seems that for you it seems to be exceedingly easy to denigrate others. Is this what excites you? I do not understand why you wish to suggest that others are not participating in the US culture and economic future. Are you so negative about others that I have to think that you might be wondering why others succeed and you do not. Is it your intention to bring others down so that they seem to be lower than you? We, in the South, have observed this before and consider it a very negative assault upon others. So, just continue your negative comments about various and see what it brings. Best regards, RA1 Quote

At this point it's going to make the "news" every time a Carnival ship has a single clogged toilet. "Only 14 miles per hour" doesn't seem actually *that* slow for a cruise ship. Don't they generally top out around 20 knots, if that? If people actually cared about this they'd insist on cruise ships that were US flagged and regulated! But instead it's just over-dramatized filler for 24 hour "news". lookin 1 Quote
Members RA1 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Members Posted March 18, 2013 About 22 knots is the max for cruise ships but it is surprising how often they go at that speed. So, 14 knots is only 2/3rds "full speed ahead". Think of it this way. At 20 knots it takes 24 hours to go 480 NM; at 14 knots the ship has only gone 336 and will need another 10+ hours to go the 480. I agree that every "stubbed toe" will be "news" for a while. Best regards, RA1 Quote
