Members Lucky Posted February 21, 2013 Members Posted February 21, 2013 Noisy kids on the airplane? Barking dogs down the street? Jackhammers at all hours? Music blaring from headphones next to you? NO PROBLEM! This guy has the answer. Problem solved. All you have to do is quit resisting the noise. Let it in. Listen to it. Then it won't bother you any more. See, the problem isn't the noise, it's your reaction to it. If you just accept it, then you will be fine. Bullshit, says I . That screaming baby in the row behind me is making a noise that i don't want to let in. Not that there is any solution to it, other than a pacifier or a swift kick to the mother. Here's the article that set me off. See what you think: http://travel.nytimes.com/2013/02/24/travel/finding-peace-during-noisy-trips.html?hpw Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Aww I don't mind crying babies... They are so cute.. I usually play with them if they happen to sit next to me... I won't be able to have a child of my own and I can understand tired parents who have to travel with a kid so dealing with noisy kids once in a while isn't that bad..Sometimes my attention quiets a baby since parents don't want a stranger to engage with their kid such that they become alert and pay more attention to their kid... I love kids they are blessings... Quote

Guest hitoallusa Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Yes.. Although the above article is fake, the guy is actually charged with simple assault... He was drunk.. What I don't understand I. This case is that the witness was six rows away from where this occurred. That part I don't get that part though.. Quote
Guest zipperzone Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 The one noise I really can't stand is screaming or crying children in an upscale restaurant. At McDonalds you expect it but not if you are paying big bucks for a quiet evening out. Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I can't believe people who can afford expensive upscale restaurants can't afford baby sitters??? I can understand it at a family style restaurant but not at an upscale restaurant... My friends had their kids running around at a hotel restaurant and I felt sorry for the servers and patrons there... I guess it's tough to raise kids these days... Members Lucky Posted February 24, 2013 Author Members Posted February 24, 2013 The house behind us, completely behind a wall, is undergoing noisy renovations. On the weekend they either put a watchdog in there, or a tape recording of a dog barking that plays endlessly. I heard one of the neighbors yelling at it to "shut up." It did, for all of two minutes. This barking went on all night, or so it seemed. But I fell asleep, realizing that the poor dog couldn't help himself. It probably doesn't hurt that I have two dogs myself. So, when I stopped resisting the barking and just accepted that it was going too happen, did I follow the very same advice that I just called stupid? Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 At least your neighbor needs to do something about their dog... Isn't there a way for you to do something legally? Quote
Guest gcursor Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I have an idea for Lucky and his neighbors with dogs. I think that you should set up a big loudspeaker system and start playing sex sounds all night long! That'll give them some pause to think I bet! OR if you don't want to do the sex sounds thing then I completely understand..it's a bit too obscene and crass. My next suggestion is much more subdued but will still get their attention. AGAIN set up a loudspeaker and then play CHRISTMAS MUSIC all night long every night until their dogs stop! Hope this helps, gcursor Quote
