Not a joke.  Do not travel with Tom Hanks.  ^_^

I do not go to the movies very often.  The last time 2010 or so.  However, I intend to see this one on Monday with friends.  I already have some preconceived notions about this saga but the movie likely is somewhat different.

Various pilots have suggested that Sully could have turned back to LGA and have attempted to prove this with simulator profiles.  A sim is always easier than real life.  In real life, one cannot just "freeze" the action and discuss/start over.

Personally, if I had been flying, I might have tried for TEB.  I have been there many times.  I know what it looks like and where it is in relation to LGA, the Hudson, etc.  However, a miss would have been tragic, not only for the pax but folks on the ground.  Not a good expectation.  At this moment, I have no argument with the decision to take the river.

I will let you know if I change my mind.

Best regards,

RA1

The Sully movie revolved around the question of whether he had to land in the Hudson or could have made it to another airport. He couldn't.

True, the movie revolved around this question but it did not correctly describe the actual incident.  From many sources, it is more than likely that Sully could have made it back to LGA, but, not with the human factors (and airline training) involved.  Most agree this was the logical conclusion.

The movie was not factual in many regards to include a dispute with the NTSB.

I do not often attend movies.  I thought this a good movie.  I did not think it was based on fact.

Best regards,

RA1

There's a blogger I like out of South Dakota. I found this joke on his blog:

A cab driver picks up a nun.  She gets into the cab and the cab driver won’t stop staring at her.  She asks him why he is staring at her and he says, “I have a question to ask you, but I don’t want to offend you.”  She answers, “my dear son, you cannot offend me.  When you’re as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything.  I’m sure that nothing you can say will offend me.”  So the guy gets very excited and says, “I have always had a dream of getting a very passionate kiss from a nun.  I know it sounds weird, but it’s true.”  The nun tells him two things.  He must be Catholic and he must be single.  The guy says “Perfect. I am single, and I am Catholic.”  So the cab driver pulls into an alley and he fulfills his dream of a long passionate kiss from a nun.  When he gets done, the cab driver starts crying.  The nun says, “my son, why are you crying?”  The cab driver says “forgive me sister, but I have sinned.  I lied.  I must confess, I’m married and I’m Jewish.”  The nun says “that’s okay. I must also confess.  My name is Kevin and I’m headed to a Halloween party!!!”

How to cook a coot

Fill large pot with water, insert plucked coot, bring to boil, cook one day.

Place a brick in pot with coot. Cook another day.

Remove brick, cook coot one more day.

Throw away the coot and eat the brick.
