Not surprisingly some popes were into guys.. I personally believe that it all started by worshipping people.. Thinking what the apostle Paul said is all correct because he is Paul... Likewise thinking what all the apostle Peter said is correct because he repented betraying Jesus and he is Peter... People forget that we all makes mistakes and admitting it isn't an embarrassing thing to do. A religion that started to give an answer to human suffering and pain became something that adds to human burden rather than lifting it. The fight against heresy was indeed necessary but in that process the Church killed critical thinking and idolized some human beings so a doctrine can be established and protected. That doctrine will be revised and another doctrine will emerge sooner or later. I don't worry about that. But I feel sorry for people who lost critical thinking. I sometimes wonder they are happy... Some are and some aren't. As long as the humanity continue to exist and prosper, a new positive doctrine will gradually emerge and our society will evolve. Quote

Guest hitoallusa Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 One solution to this problem of oral traditions and written records ( I found it realistic that it has happened) is for the Holy Spirit be amongst the believers and guides them. If a spirit guides the soul of believers then many misunderstandings and wrong interpretation of the Bible could be avoided. And with that faith I believe the purest form of Jesus's teaching can be preserved and unaltered. I believe one's spirit is presented through various acitivies, for example art , writing, discusion, invention, experiment and etc.. Through these creative actives we get close to truth and learn better about ourselves. To me Jesus opened up that possibility to every one and if you believe in him you have power to move mountains. More or less we have achieve that level. What I'm saying is that religion has important part in our lives and still do whether we like it or not. Because some bigots use religion to discriminate us, we should not reject religion. I believe we all have in us spirit of justice, compassion and Iove as Jesus did. As he strived to wake people up and lead people to a better society, I hope we can start a movement that does the same. Our first step doesn't have to be big... One small thing at a time... But wouldn't that also include the historical Jesus (not the constructed Christ)? Quote
