BiBottomBoy Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Study shows that 47 percent of gay and bisexual men doesn't use condoms for anal sex. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2013/01/21/study-47-of-gay-and-bisexual-men-admit-to-bareback-sex/ Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 The article is very misleading... No statistical analysis and no explanation of how the question was asked... I have seen a lot of barebackers seroconvert and HIV is not a minor illness. I use PreP and other herbs to protect myself but it back fired and it damaged my liver. So I recommend safe sex to all.. I'm not big fan of anal sex since it hurts a lot. I just endure it to pleasure my partner... I could do away with sex and be happy with cuddling and conversations. I just love having someone next to me in bed and share my life with.. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 It would explain why HIV rates are up 22 percent for young gay men. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2012/12/20/us-hiv-infection-rates-rise-for-young-gay-men-but-down-for-black-women/ Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 It is no surprise that it is so high.. The gay community needs to grow and prosper not the other way around.. Quote
Members msclelovr Posted January 22, 2013 Members Posted January 22, 2013 I always use a condom for fucking (tho I don't like to wear one when I'm getting sucked off). But as a top playing with younger, muscled bottoms, I have been amazed at the number of guys who tell me 'it's OK' for me to NOT use a condom when fucking them. I know we all have different views on what constitutes safeĀ® sex, but bareback is an absolute no-no for me and I try to educate the younger guys who say this to me. I find it's an increasingly common attitude among younger guys in LA and SF. I've only encountered it with young foreigners in London, not with UK guys. That said, I find lots of younger US and UK guys are happy to suck cock without a condom, to completion, and they like to swallow my load. Brazilians in London, in contrast, often suggest I wear a condom to get sucked or if they're happy to suck without condom, want me to wear one if I'm going to get sucked to completion. flipao 1 Quote
Guest josephga Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I think barebacking makes the gay community look ignorant and uneducated. I personally feel it shows lack of care and respect for those who lost their lives in the earlier days of this disease. As well as no respect for their own lives Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 I've heard younger gays in Europe shrugg off HIV as no big deal and describe it as "gay diabetes." It's like they assume they are going to get it so they don't see any point in avoiding it. It's very disconcerting. Quote
Guest josephga Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 They think that here too. that they can just treat and manage it like diabetes. Someone told me there's blogs at treasure Island video where they glorify it. There's a escort in new york that has done bareback porn for treasure island video and blogs out there talking about where he has attended conversion party's. I use to use the grindr app and stopped using it 9 out of 10 guys that contacted me were looking for barebacking and would go off the deep end when you say no thanks move on. Or the ones that already have it think now it's okay. Uneducated in the fact that there's different strains of the disease and that they will keep infecting themselves over and over with the strains on top of other STD'S out there Quote
caeron Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I'm too old to bareback. I'm old enough to remember the time before HIV, and I barebacked then. Then the plague came and I watched lots of people die and my community get decimated. I was lucky that I was a bit picky and hung up, or I may well not have lived through that time. I'm really, really happy that we've made such great progress treating this horrific disease, but it isn't the common cold. If the medicines don't work for you, or the virus mutates, you die. I can't be flippant about this disease. I hope we find a full cure soon, because so many young in our community are picking up a loaded gun and playing with it when they practice unsafe sex. Sure, it's their choice, but so is playing russian roulette. It's a bad, bad choice to make. Lucky 1 Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 The thing is I feel like they aren't really making a choice. 10 years ago we knew it was dangerous and could make an informed choice and decide the risk was worth the reward. If they don't take it seriously today then they aren't making the choice based on informed information. Quote
Guest josephga Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 In today's times we know how to protect ourselves we have much more information than those who caught it in the early years. thousands were sick and infected b4 it even had a name. today unless you are a child or raped imo it is a disease one chooses to get.. I remember being a teen and seeing all these reports on tv and what HIV looked like back in the 80's I said then I didn't want to be one of them. It scared me so bad I didn't have sex for the first time until the age of 30. Growing up in a small town I thought being gay would mean hiv positive someday. In 2008 I was diagnosed with stage 1 multiple sclerosis I hurt almost on a daily bases and sometimes Have to go without medication due to the high cost. I can't wrap my mind why people want to be so careless with this when it can be easily prevented. Quote
Guest FrancoisP Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Ive noticed the trend of barebacking and I personally don't get it. It's like playing russian roulette Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 How common is it? Do you see guys wanting it most of the time or just some of the time? Quote
