Guest NCBored Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 On another thread, several comments were made to the effect that you 'pay for' boyfriends but in a different way than escorts. I inferred form the comments that the posters picked up the tabs for their boyfriends. Is that common among most posters here? And if it is - why? Do the boyfriends have less money, or does it have to do with roles of some kind that define the relationship? My own relationships were generally those of 2 equals, and we each paid our own way or took turns picking up dinner tabs, etc. I have always been wary of having someone dependent on me, I think. Members Suckrates Posted January 13, 2013 Members Posted January 13, 2013 I was with my partner for 22 years before his death. We shared expenses, each was independent and had his own money, and really didnt think about it. there was no tit 4 Tat when it came to paying for things. He would pay sometimes, I would pay sometimes. The equity of it was always evident however, and it worked for us. Even before we became a couple, it worked the same way. We didnt keep tabs on Who paid What ! How silly........ but I guess for some people money is quite the issue ?. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 If your boyfriend is much younger you pay for drinks and stuff. If you are roughly the same age then whoever is the top pays for drinks and stuff. If you are versitle then you both pay for your own drinks. caeron, JKane and numerito 3 Quote

But I wonder if people think in terns of 'male'/female' roles and straight protocols, or perhaps dom/sub (loosely speaking)? Quote

As we have seen so many times, stereotyping and rules just dont work anymore in our society. But people DO have a problem "RE-DEFINING" roles..... yet they have No problem whining about the situations ! Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 If I'm sucking the guy's dick and he's not sucking my dick and he's fucking my ass and I'm not fucking his ass he can damn well buy me a rum and coke. caeron, TotallyOz and JKane 3 Quote

Well, see, diff strokes here. I would prefer just sucking a guys dick, and him leave my dick alone. As for fucking, my back door has been bolted for decades, and my cock doesnt like dark places. But if he wants me to shove my tongue in there, or a big rubber toy, i'll oblige ! TotallyOz 1 Quote
TotallyOz Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 So being a top is work???? You have an amazing way to look at the world. I find you breathtaking! And, yes, being a top is work! But, the more you work, the higher the reward. AdamSmith 1 Quote

Very sad when any relationship, especially a long term one, ends in the premature (or mature really) death of a partner. I thought you came out very late in life? Am I misremembering what you said? Guest CharliePS Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I was much younger than my partner when we met, but right from the start we always shared all joint expenses (rent, mortgage, groceries, furniture, car, etc.) equally. Anything that was particular to one person, was paid by that person (clothing, travel, books, etc.) At first he had more income than I did, so he simply lived with whatever I could pay half of. We have maintained that way of dealing with money for 45 years, and it works for us. We keep joint bank accounts for the things we share, and individual accounts for things we don't. Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Wow Charlie congrats for being together for such a long time.. You give me hope.. Your longevity has a purpose I believe.. To enrich other people's lives Quote

I thought you came out very late in life? Am I misremembering what you said? You ARE mis-remembering, I think because you are so focused on me riding a public bus and going to a sex club. But to set the records str8, I was GAY out of the womb, tried living a str8 life thru college, but that didnt work for me. So, a Queen was born. Had a few partners, but the longterm one of 22 years was the best and most fulfilling, him dying suddenly at age 40. Quote
