Members Buddy2 Posted December 2, 2012 Members Share Posted December 2, 2012 Everyone seems to forget that "The Sound of Music" was a very successful Broadway musical that played 1,443 performance from 1959 to 1963 before the film was made and released. I remember seeing it in 1960 on Broadway. Was it better than the film? Only in certain respects--some of the songs were far more inventively presented on stage (and you have the advantage of seeing the performers live).
