Carrie Underwood as Maria

Everyone seems to forget that "The Sound of Music" was a very successful Broadway musical that played 1,443 performance from 1959 to 1963 before the film was made and released. I remember seeing it in 1960 on Broadway. Was it better than the film? Only in certain respects--some of the songs were far more inventively presented on stage (and you have the advantage of seeing the performers live). But, the film was much better in presenting and building the story.

Good luck to Carrie Underwood. Looking forward to it.
