Nude in San Francisco

I am not lookin to be contrary here, but I am beginning to wish that nudity on the streets of San Francisco had never gotten off the ground. If you are unfamiliar with the controversy over the right to be naked in public, this might fill you in: http://www.nytimes.c...nce.html?ref=us

When we think of nude men, we think of the guys in the Pornification Forum. (This guy, for example, I want to see naked, just not at the grocery store:

But the reality is different:

NUDIST-articleLarge.jpg

I don't want to see the naked parts of most people, and I think I have just as much right to walk the streets without being offended as anyone. Why these folks think they have a right to be naked in public escapes me. We have social customs that have worked for a long time. Society functions best when groups can coexist, but nudists are not happy being allowed to go forth at parades and fairs. They want to expose themselves to me, and I don't want to see it.

Why can't it snow in San Francisco? Get those metal benches nice and cold...

Well Lucky can you not look at them. You will soon get used to them that you will be able to just ignore them. I don't about you but I rarely pay attention to other people when I'm at a grocery store unless I spot hot guys from time to time. That's about it.

Big news indeed and no doubt a blow to the denizens of Dore Alley and Folsom Street. Let's hope your neighbors are a broadminded bunch.

There is something to be said for "No Shirts, No Shoes, No Service" Now we just have to add "No Pants" between Shoes and Service. :P As for beaches or sections in parks etc, let them all hang out if they wish. I will say that nudity does not show most people off in their best light... so to speak. If you've got it then flaunt it, if you don't then stow it.

I wonder if global warming will one day send more of us back to our birthday suits.

Yesterday, I asked a couple of City boys what they thought about all the fuss. They confirmed what I've heard before, that it's a response to the stroller moms who have moved to the Castro to raise their families and now form a vocal subset of Supervisor Wiener's constituents. Like Lucky, they do not enjoy seeing their neighbors' dangly parts and perhaps feel that their offspring might be irreparably harmed by skipping down the street and suddenly coming face-to-crotch with an unclad community member.

It made me wonder if their children were born with a distaste for nudity, or if it was something they learned during their early days in the nursery. I felt bad for them, and wondered if it would be possible to make neighborhood nudity a fully-disclosable item in any real estate transactions, like roof rot and mold and lead-based paints.

It also made me wonder what role evolution will play in resolving this issue and if thousands of years of being born naked will someday evolve into the first live birth in which the newborn pops out fully clothed. And would the neonatal garments have designer labels, or would they be purely utilitarian?

Once I started wondering, it was hard to stop, and I found myself wondering if my own street presence, even though fully - if not fashionably - clothed, might also prove offensive to the more aesthetically attuned inhabitants of our fair City. I'd feel terrible if the sight of yours truly mincing down the street in skimpy shorts, weather permitting, would cause the slightest discomfort to even the most finely strung of my fellow citizens.

And what if I did learn that my appearance out in the open offended others? I wonder if I could bear it, although I'm not sure I'd have the discipline to spend the rest of my life indoors.

Unless maybe I had some company. Clothing optional, of course.

Simply not true! My kids, both canines, walk the house and the neighborhood naked every single day! They are quite comfortable with their nudity, and mine, for that matter.

Serious nonsense! We have social mores for a reason- so we can live together in harmony. Not only that, clothes have practical benefits besides keeping one warm. What fun it is to remove the clothing from the cute guy you just picked up...where would that be if he was naked to start with?

I think clothes play a lot in making someone looking attractive but it got to a point where clothes generate too much waste and pollution...

It would save a lot of money and resources if people wear less, if not at all.. And it will greatly help our environment too. I am not sure why those people are walking around naked but it surely helps our Mother Nature to breathe and some room to rest..

I think the real problem is those empty headed luxury seekers who earn money illegally and then spend their money on expensive clothes to show their vanity and hypocrisy... I am not sure why people are not digested by that?

... Anyways, I won't mind naked people in my neighborhood at all if weather permits.^_^

Would you want me to agree with your ultra liberal nudity in public views? What fun would the forum then be? Since I started the thread opposing nudity in public, are you not the one being contrary? hehehe!

(Beyond that, we now have lookin at 5 posts for the day! What would that count be if I had not posted this?)

This observation, equating public nudity with roof rot, mold and lead-based paints may do more to stamp out public nudity world-wide than any stroller mom bitching to her Supervisor. LOL

I know! And yet Lucky wonders if I'm contrary. Go figger. shrug.gif

While I'm not distressed by the nudity of others, personally, I prefer leaving a little something to the imagination.

But clothes make the man. Would this guy be as sexy without the props? Yes, the pants, but the bike, the sunglasses, the headphone.
