I am not sure but men4rentnow got into some trouble with the law? Does anybody have any idea on this?

Don't be such a tease! Tell us what you know, or think, or the source thereof.

There was a hilarious case a couple of years ago between Wintice, the owner of men4rentnow, and escort "Destiny Longlegs" (remember him?). It turned on claims of false advertising, trademark infringement etc.; the court was utterly (and commendably, and necessarily, given judicial restraint principles) uninterested in the fact that the whole point was promotion of prostitution:

I haven't heard about legal troubles, but they recently informed their escort advertisers that they are no longer allowing rates to be posted in ads - supposedly because of Visa & their billing comany - and are more restrictive with regards to sexual terminology. Whether or not there was some precipitating event, I don't know.

below is part of the email sent to the escorts (according to an escort):

Ad guidelines on Men4RentNow have changed to remain compliant with our

billing company and VISA's regulations. There are terms that are no

longer acceptable and will be removed or cause ad denial. These terms

include, but are not limited to: erotic, sensual, BDSM and porn.

Additionally, rates will no longer display on the site.

The In & Out rates in the info block on the right column of ads was replaced with 'Contact for rates'.

Escorts are upset about this - particularly because it forces them to talk about rates with everyone who calls or emails.

Well that's moronic! Having a posting that is explicit about what you're willing to do and clear on your rates is the whole point of *paying* to have a posting and great legal protection for the escort. Having to discuss those things--especially together--is exactly what law enforcement needs to bust them!

I've not been much of a fan of Rentboy lately, but it sounds like there's not much of an alternative at the moment!

Maybe more guys will use the male escorts section of backpage.com now?

I still do pretty well finding guys on CL, myself...

It IS ridiculous - partcularly considering the NAME of the site!

Rentboy is pretty useless outside a handful of the biggest cities.

Lots of escorts AND clients seem to think that www.rentmen.com is the better site in terms of design, functionality & customer support, but unfortunately they don't have that many escorts using them, and it's a 'chicken & egg' dilemma - escorts won't use them until they generate sufficient business, and they won't generate a lot of business unless a lot of escorts use them.

Also Adam4Adam seems pretty popular among the younger guys and allows commercial listings... been meaning to explore that more...

I've been watching A4A too. In my area, it seems to be mostly traveling guys - particularly those who project the 'thug' image. (I see some of them on Backpage, too.)

I tend to be a bit wary of guys only in town for a day or 2, unless they have a good reputation. If they're unlikely to ever see you again, they may have less interest in delivering a satisfying experience. And most of them advertise as tops - :( for me.

Yeah, the thug bit down here is a bit weird. I have seen 1 or 2 who turned out quite Oxonian once we sat down together over a drink. Unsettling so many think it necessary to present that way to get business.

1 of many things I loved about NYC -- thuggiest-looking would often immediately start erotic eloquent educated dialog and go way beyond my understanding...

...if that makes me a racist!

I'm attracted to a lot of black men, but I prefer clean-cut and collegiate or professional regardless of race.

I know that many of the 'thugz' are playing a role, but weeding them seems more trouble than it's worth.

And again - masot of them are just passing through.

I tried to be careful to talk about things not verified because I don't want to offend anyone. Everybody seems to be connected in the business and sometimes people can become sour if a statement harms their interests. So I stay quiet most of time.
