Guest FourAces Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Not sure if you all of heard the news. But hotmail is going to be no more. Over 300 million users will be switched to the new outlook.com email service from Microsoft. Will you stick with them if using hotmail? Quote
TotallyOz Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Ya know, I just hate when they do this. I hate when they do it with apple from .mac to .me to .icloud. I hate it with hotmail now. Yeah, I'll get use to it. I just hate that years ago I had the chance to buy gmail.com and I didn't. (head slap) Quote

The PepsiCo guy had run it into the ground. My company and most others refused to buy any more Macs. Predictions of its demise was coming from all quarters with the exception of Steve Jobs. Yeah, its stock could have been had for a song but who wants to buy a dying company. I still believed in it I just didn't think anybody else did. Quote

I hadn't heard about this, tho I do use hotmail as my primary email account, so I went looking for more details. I've only read one article ( the change doesn't seem imminent): http://money.cnn.com//2012/07/31/technology/hotmail-outlook-overhaul/index.htm?section=money_topstories Since we'll be able to retain our current hotmail addresses, I'll likely stick with it, unless the interface is really bad (which isn't too likely). Guest EXPAT Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I had always avoided Hotmail and Yahoo mail like a plague because of the spam and lack of security. Quote

Members JKane Posted August 8, 2012 Members Posted August 8, 2012 I use Hotmail as my primary (naughty) email addr. and hadn't even heard anything about this yet. IF our hotmail addresses continue to work and they just give us some new interface to use I don't see how this is any different from when they switched to "Live" a couple years ago... Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 The new interface is outlook.com apparently. Quote

Guest FourAces Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I am not certain if the hotmail domain is eventually going to be replaced with the outlook.com domain. Microsoft has not confirmed this yet. However, a huge change is in the works and my guess is most do not know yet as Microsoft does not want any bad press on this. Quote
