Brazil--Lust or Love?

There are many different reasons why people visit Rio de Janeiro. For readers of this messageboard, the predominate reason is probably the abundance of beautiful men who are sexually available.

For those of you who think of Rio as a place to poke your brains out (or get your brains poked out), you will not be disappointed. For the $200 USD that you will pay an average escort in the states for one hour, you can have approximately 5 “programmas” with Garotos (saunaboys). For my first three visits to Rio, that is what it was all about for me- Lots of good, hot sweaty sex..

But on this last visit, I discovered another side of the sexy Rio…You can also find boys (men) there who will treat you like a boyfriend or lover. And the “act” doesn’t end when the hour is up. You can find “companions” who gladly spend the day, the night, the week, or more with you with what we consider to be “little compensation”. I had a “date” from noon until 6pm.. I felt like a longterm boyfriend. And the cost to me.. the equivalent of about $50 USD.. I had an overnight from 11:30pm until 6pm the next day.. total cost of $75 USD.

Many of the boys enjoy the company of older men. They will show you around the city, accompany you on sightseeing, or out to eat.. or merely to a bar for a drink. They will happily stay in contact with you by way of Facebook, email or instant messenger when you return home.

Language is only an issue if you make it one. I do not speak Portuguese. Most of the boys do not speak much, if any, English. But as long as you make the effort to communicate, they will do the same.

So no matter if you are looking for some fast and furious fucking, or some gentle and romantic boyfriend type experience, it can be found in Rio.. No matter if you like big, muscular hairy men, or small, tight twinks, it can be found in Rio.

The main thing to remember is to open your mind and open your heart, and they will never be the same after a visit to Brazil.

In my experience, it started as a programma at one of the saunas.. If you and the boy (just a term for male. Does not mean underage) hit if off, you can ask him if he wants to join you for a bite to eat outside the sauna, or just ask him if he would like to come over to your apartment/hotel room. Again, from my experience, it just kinda happens like it would asking anyone out on a date. The difference being that the boy is a beautiful, sexy younger guy who actually enjoys spending time with someone older.

On my overnight, I was asking Diogo about Leboy, a gay disco in Rio. He volunteered to take me. So we made arrangements to meet at 11:30pm to go..While making the plans, I let him know that he was more than welcome to spend the night at my place after the disco, and it was done.. He really seemed to enjoy our time together, laying in bed, cuddling, making out, etc, etc etc as much as I did...

That's great to know, and makes the prospect of a visit to Brazil much more appealing to me.

I took a cue from Tomcal, so there was no discussion about rates for "longtime dates".. I just handed him money as we were parting..To give you an idea of the type of boy you can find...My flight was to depart at 9pm on Wednesday. Diogo took me to Leboy on Tuesday night. We met up at my apartment in Copa at 11:30pm.. We walked to Leboy.. spent a couple of hours there, then strolled back to the apartment, hand in hand, on the beachfront. We played and slept, showered together, etc until 4pm time to check out of the apartment. I gave him R$150 (about $75 USD). Diogo then went with us to the Pointe, carrying my suitcase up the steep stairs, and he was by my side until I had to depart at 6:30 for the airport. At the Pointe, Diogo wanted to do another 3way with this hot boy (Diogo is a power bottom who can never get enough).. I explained to him that I only had enough reias left for the taxi to the airport, plus R$80 extra, which is what the other boy wanted for a programma.

Diogo instantly said that it wasn't a problem, I didn't need to pay him if we did the threeway..Needless to say, we did the threeway, I paid the other boy the last R$80, and gave my Diogo a $50 USD bill.........

I admit to leaving a tear or two behind as I descinded those stairs from the Pointe, waving goodbye to my Namorado, Diogo.

so back to your question, to some of the boys, it is about the money, but to the right boy, it is about being treated with dignity and respect, along with them actually enjoying the time for what it is.

I agree with everything Lurker says above! I also had one "special" guy the past couple of trips and the "dates" and overnights were the same experience that Lurker had. Which is why instead of my usual September Prague trip, I am going back to Brazil in Sept. Brazilians just do it better!! :-)

Thanks eeyore.. I stated awhile back, that the reason I first started traveling so much was because of posters on the old Hooboy site. I "discovered" Montreal back in 2004 after reading all of the glorious stories from posters back then--mainly MarcAnthony...Then my fascination with Rio began after reading posts of there. This time, mainly by Tomcal.

So I want to "give back" to the board and its members by sharing all i learn/experience so hopefully it might convince someone else to take the plunge and try visiting a new place.

And I can go back and re-read my own posts as my "old-timers" sometimes make me forget certain details.

Just thought I would "update" a little. This morning is 6 weeks since I returned from Rio.. Once again, I got an instant message on Facebook from Diogo.. It wasn't asking for money, It was just saying hello, and that he missed me.

One thing I gained from the conversation is how so many of the clients just make him feel like a sex object. Few appreciate him for what he has to offer besides sex..

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but that kind of simple, sincere message tugs at my heart.

It is and has been quite unfortunate that some clients looks at their company as objects, "merely as meat," but for the most part and from my readings, the men who post here have different views. They treat their "boys" as human beings and with respect. I hope this continues and can be spread.

[...doesn't seem like it's been six weeks; Barr aborted his plans and returned earlier. It doesn't tend to have been that long. But my advice to you [as if you need any] is to continue to "bask" in the afterglow.

Hi LS,

At the beggining of the thread, you wrote: "Language is only an issue if you make it one. I do not speak Portuguese. Most of the boys do not speak much, if any, English. But as long as you make the effort to communicate, they will do the same."

Last year I spent five days in Rio, and very much enjoyed my time in the saunas. Like you I found the boys very friendly, but language WAS an issue. It's true that making an effort helps for a short session (I learned c. 150 words in Portugese before the trip), but how can it work for a longer duration, especially out of bed/cabin?

On my repeat visit I'd like to enjoy their companionship in the city and for them to enjoy my generosity. I could really use some guidance on the communication aspect.

Thanks,

Roni.

i guess I am lucky that I am pretty good with spanish, and while different from Portuguese, there are enough similiarities to help.. There are apps you can get on your smartphone to help with translations, just beware of international roaming charges.. or you can pick up a pocket translator such as this http://www.languageteacher.com/9_English_Portuguese_dictionary_English_Portuguese_translation_speaking_electronic_translator_talking_digital_pocket_portable_language_teacher.html to help.. I had my laptop with me, so when we were in my apartment, we could use google translator..If you the type to learn things quickly, you can pick up the Pimmsler or Roseatta Stone CD's for learning the language. Personally, I am too cheap and lazy for that.

In the saunas, at least, from my experiences, there is almost always someone around who speaks enough English to help translate, if needed. Another suggestion I found helpful is to do some research before going out. If there are certain questions you know will come up, translate them at your homebase on a computer, and write down the Portuguese version on a notecard.. make it like flashcards.. english on one side, portuguese on the other.

I guess my biggest suggestion is to just not sweat it..I am the type who believes that if you Worry about it, it makes it all the worse. I was concerned before my first trip to Brazil. Now, after 4 trips, I feel 95% comfortable in traveling alone there. Maybe I got really lucky in meeting Diogo because he was a very smart, kind guy who make the extra effort himself to help with the communication.

If he is your type, definitely seek him out in Rio. I just spoke with him today on Facebook, and he is currently in Belo Horizonte, but is headed back to Rio in the next few days..He is a fantastic guy. Just be sure to treat him right..a little respect goes a long way..
